Honestly I prefer the book over the movies simply because the book is just way better and most of the King adapted movies suck so bad I don't even want to rewatch most of them. Like Carrie, I.T. and a few others

But my thing with King generally is that it's always a hit and miss with his works because he just lacks the consistency to keep something going. I'd point to the gunslinger series that kinda lost me on book 2 so it kinda makes sense that even the movies are a hit and miss. The shining tho is a whole ass different disappointment on its own 🤣
