The Splinterlands team is a moving collective mind and the last decision showed that it changes the rules of the game as it pleases, even if that seems to be against players' and investors' interests. While in the Chaos Legion release bull run the team flooded the market with 14 Million packs showing greed in my opinion, once the remaining packs were supposed to be burned it seemed that they'd turned to better decisions. But their latest move to grab 500k packs from the burning path and put them on the market in one form or another, which was not even put through a DAO Proposal process (even if it didn't have to as it was not part of the DAO Treasury), shows that they do not always care about the players or investors interests. Why am I saying this? Well because when 1 Chaos Legion pack is standing on the second market at 5.5 Hive, which is equivalent to $2.42 as opposed to a $4 pack in the store, how can the CL pack price at least reach the market price in order for the investors to see any profit? Until this bear market things had equilibrium and while Splinterlands earned hefty along the way, they'd always leave something on the table for the players and investors, but lately, they seem to work against that and only consider their wealth. And taking this path can lead to this great game's downfall in time...

The Official announcement on this was like this.
Splinterlands has moved 250k packs off the market and into an account controlled by Splinterlands. We're going to move another 250k packs off the market after the last airdrop has occurred. These packs are to make bronze and silver decks for the NFTy Arcade platform and we expect them to drive new user adoption. Splinterlands will burn rewards earned from these cards and if the project is unsuccessful we'll burn the cards. At no point will Splinterlands sell these cards on the market.
We'll run the experiment for a few months. If it is working to bring in new players we'll continue. If the experiment doesn't seem to be working and the community through a DAO vote wants these cards destroyed/burnt we'll honor it.
With these packs removed from the shop there are just under 1.5 million packs remaining. We're now under 10% left. After the last airdrop we'll take 250k more packs off the market for this new user growth experiment brining us to 1.25M packs. There is also a possibility that we'll remove 300k packs for sale to support Genepool's proposal to award packs during the drought between the end of the Chaos Legion Sale between now and March and the start of the sale of Rebellion in Summer if the stakeholders want to see that happen. That would bring us 950k packs remaining. It's been a long time coming, but it looks like the end of Chaos Legion is upon us all.
As per the above statement, it seems that the Splinterlands team is not leaving any breathing space between Chaos Legion and Rebellion considering that they'll use 750k to cover any new demand and that will not help improve in any way the pack prices on the secondary market. At this point, I regret having invested in hundreds of packs expecting that there will be a time when the price will appreciate. But as the Splinterlands is taking all the air from the room, I don't see how that can happen and be able to at least recoup the money that I've spent for a pack (excluding any airdrops received, which should not be part of the summarizing as those were for early buyers).

This is how I see this move from Splinterlands and I wonder what are your thoughts in this regard. I had to say it as this is what I am thinking with the given information, maybe there are other things to consider, but for me, this doesn't look so well with such an abrupt decision that wasn't even put up to community voting as a way of consulting. But we shall see how this unfolds in the future, I am sure that the subject is hot and the community voiced about it.
