The Week in rambling Thoughts - Then an art update

So as i sit here on a wonderful hot Sunday afternoon, i wish i had organised a party for this evening. Its the last weekend of the holiday. its hot. the pool is perfect. and its Grand Final night. We are not playing. we SUCKED this year and got ceremoniously booted out rather early. However we still could have had a nice evening. Not worth the effort in a crappy evening. But this evening is gorgeous.

The smoke from the bushfires has gone... although slightly further north is all on fire, with evac warnings about an hour away.

UPDATE.... I went out for a walk... and swanbank is back with fires again... Can't have been too bad... only 11 firetrucks and it was out in a couple of hours it appears. I assume it was a flare up from the other day... but who knows. We are in the smoke warning area... but its not that bad.

I also did a spot of gardening. planted some flowers. zinnia, and alyssm. cornflowers (even though its a bit hot) and a few other things. its going to be hot and i want to help feed the local bees.

Other than that its the last weekend of the holiday... and its a jolly public holiday on monday too.. so i have EVERYONE home monday... cries... i just want to get cleared up and get some painting done... but whatever. sigh.. anyway enough of that. onto the update.

Below is the fire update and our smoke hazard warning that is less of an issue than the one 4 days ago where we didn't have one.. lol

ART UPDATE

So today i wasn't painting - i was drawing. I can't draw with pencil and paper due to my hand injry. but i CAN draw with the smoothing tool on the ipad fairly well. (Movement like painting can be from the elbow. I just have to be careful.)

Method on the ipad.

Ideas phase. I normally do a sketch and ideas layer. and plan in my head a bit. i have limited draw time with the hand so i have to concentrate.

after sketching with whatever brush. normally one without smoothing and i just rough it all in. then i go back in with a liner brush and LOADS of control and smooth it out.

I create a duplicate of the line art (just in case) as i am VERY prone to accidently colouring the line art and that is a pain. because then its ruined. so i duplicate and lock. then i turn on multiply and use the line art as reference so i can drop colours underneath.

SOMETIMES i use a different layer for each colour or item. However this time... --> i was lazy and i did most of it on the same layer. Then i do a layer with a fairly transparent black layer just to knock in a few shadows. and there we go. That layer i use multiply on. it is with this layer that having the colours on separate layers can help otherwise you can add shadows in wrong spots. Thankfully this design is un compliated.

The colour is only supposed to be rough here, as this IS a colouring book page and im just doing the colour as an example of what it will look like.

Totally off topic...

anyone else following the drama in the UK with the Royal family with Harry and Megan back and Swan Song? No idea why i am so jolly interested. Even in 1/2 their antics are true (and dear lord i am VERY AWARE) that the media does not present anything like the truth... however i am very dissapointed that Spencer has decided to release such and explosive book about Diana. I am not sure that i approve. Again... its not my place or business to approve or disapprove... but yet here i am...
