It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.

It's been a bit of a bummer of a week as far as the markets have gone. Especially if you are a BTC maxi I guess. We saw another drop below $20k and now here we sit right at that 20 mark. I'm sure all the trade analysts have some clever chart or reason for what is going on. It's important to remember to zoom out. Look at the big picture and just take all of this in stride.

As long as you are showing up every day and doing what you do, it will all turn out okay in the end.

That's the hope anyway. I will admit I find myself wondering sometimes if all this work is worth it. Clearly I am still here, so the question seems to have resolved itself. I get it though. Bear markets are frustrating. They seem hopeless sometimes. You can't grow if you don't show up though.

I honestly don't have a ton of finance news today. I apologize for that. Like I said though, we just seem to be in a holding pattern right now. The markets make some gains and then they lose them. On both the traditional and the crypto side of things.

Stocks

Apple has a new phone coming out soon, so expect some movement on their stock. My Apple holdings are a long term type thing, so I don't even pay attention to them too much anymore. SMR seems to be holding pretty steady from when I bought it at $10 per share. It jumped up to $15 and last I checked it has settled around $13. I was able to talk another one of my co-workers into buying some the other day.

Who knows, we may all get rekt, but I am pretty confident in the company, and I think once they have a handful of their products out in the real world as proof of concept, the price will grow accordingly.

Crypto

I'm still slowly working on moving all of my assets off of the more centralized exchanges. It is hard though because I have those monthly buys on Coinbase and moving the funds is just such a pain. At least right now in the grand scheme of things it is a relatively small amount, so if I lost it, it wouldn't be a huge deal, but come the next bull cycle, it should be worth a lot more.

Making sure it is all in safe place will be really important.

I love seeing all of the development that is still taking place in crypto despite the bear market. I know it isn't uncommon, but I still find it encouraging. There is a ton to be excited about here!

Threads

I still haven't started using "Threads" the way I thought I would. I am going to try a different approach to it and see if that helps me. I think I am going to keep it open in a separate browser window. That might help it from getting buried in all of my other daily tabs.

Are you using Threads? Has it been easy or hard to implement in your daily routine? I feel like once they have a native app it will be easier for me, but I'm a native app kind of guy to begin with.

The Gen X'er in me just can't handle doing too much in a mobile browser :)

Listnerds

I'm still on the fence about what to do with Listnerds. I've been sitting at #5 on the richlist for a while now. I don't see myself getting much higher than that due to the immense dedication of the people above me.

Due to markets and "things", it seems that some people's confidence in the platform is waning. Personally, I don't think that is fair. I think the team is small and they are doing what they can to make Listnerds a great project. I respect them for that.

We all know though, that markets will market and at this point, the ROI just isn't what I expected it to be. Hopefully, we should all know by now that a project is more than just its token price. Honestly that is the one thing that has been keeping me from giving up on Listnerds.

It drives engagement, it has so much potential, yes, the token price is down from where it started, but there is still a lot of good happening there.

My hope was that this whole thing would be self sustaining. Unfortunately, with the drop in token price, that just isn't the case.

Due to the relatively high cost of the Enterprise subscription, ~$100 per month, I feel that the growth of my Hive account is suffering at the expense of my Listnerds account. I already paid for this month, but I think once that is finished, I will likely not renew the Enterprise subscription.

Who knows, I might change my mind between now and then, but there are a ton of great things happening on Hive and on the horizon. I think growing my base account is going to serve me better in the future.

What do you think? Be honest! I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Who knows, you might just change my mind!
