English version:
The benefits of online shopping are obvious: you can buy things from all over the world, it's convenient, you can compare prices, and you get delivery to your doorstep or to a locker downstairs. However, I've gradually started feeling that online shopping is becoming a bit of a hassle. Sometimes after carefully reading reviews for a long time and finally picking a product, it’s hard to control what you get—what arrives may be completely different from the picture. This brings us to the first drawback of online shopping: "fraud." Fraud here refers to fake reviews, or "brushing," which I'm very familiar with, as I've helped others write fake reviews before. That's why I usually check the follow-up and negative reviews. If I can accept the bad reviews, then I usually don't bother with returning the product. If the product turns out better than expected, then that's a pleasant surprise.
Recently, while scrolling through ads on Kuaishou, I saw a product that I had been wanting to buy, so I followed the link. I ended up placing an order, thinking, "What if it's a good product?" Seeing tens of thousands of orders, the herd mentality took over, and I placed the order. Afterward, I received a link for a very similar product, from another brand, with a price difference of only a few yuan. Normally, I wouldn’t buy the same product from two different sellers. If I see a cheaper price, I’d just order from the cheaper seller and return the previous one. But this time, I decided to order from both sellers and compare them when the products arrived, planning to keep the one with the better quality.
When the items finally arrived, I was shocked. Both products, from different brands and different livestream rooms, had the same exact packaging and the same product inside. To further confirm that there were differences, I even tried them on. Surprisingly, the feeling of wearing them was exactly the same—both uncomfortable and poor in quality. My plan to keep one of them immediately disappeared, and now I plan to return both. Luckily, I can return them without giving a reason within 7 days, and I don’t even have to pay for shipping. Despite the price difference of only a few yuan, the products were exactly the same, which made me recall a training session I attended about cross-border e-commerce. The instructor mentioned sourcing goods from Pinduoduo and selling them back on Pinduoduo for a profit. It seems that sourcing products from Kuaishou and selling them back on Kuaishou might also be a similar method for making money.
So, after hours of looking at the products, I ended up returning them all. While I didn't incur any financial losses, my time was wasted, and I didn’t get the product I wanted. That feeling is really not great. Fortunately, I wasn’t in a hurry, or I would have been really frustrated. Nowadays, when I buy fruits, I mostly go to the supermarket downstairs or order from JD.com. For food quality, I have a basic need for reassurance. If the fruit is bad, and the seller compensates me a few yuan, it doesn’t make up for the loss. I’d rather pay a few extra yuan for better quality food so that I can enjoy eating it without compromising.
With the rise of online shopping, many things are no longer sold in supermarkets, which seems to be a downside of e-commerce. In the past, supermarkets would have special buyers to assess the quality of products, but now, many online products are potentially unbranded or substandard, with no quality guarantees. In the end, I mostly buy branded items, at least for the quality assurance. I hope that in the future, more high-quality products will be sold online, rather than the subpar, unbranded items that cut corners. Otherwise, it doesn't improve the quality of life for consumers, and producing so much junk is a waste of social resources. Don't you think so?
