Hello Brazilian community!
With this terrible climate that affects us, the early end of winter forces us to anticipate some maintenance actions for our garden. And today I want to show you how I handle vines.
Initially, know that we call it vines:
Vine or other vine that extends over a horizontal frame supported by pillars.
So, the vines that are the plants that produce the grape can be called vines, as they are managed to be arranged in parallel lines with a height that facilitates the planting and harvesting of the fruits.
I have only three parallel wire lines that serve as a guide for the vine's growth. This photo shows in detail one of these main lines as it is one of the oldest branches of my plant.
After winter, it is necessary to carry out pruning, which is the delimbing of the plant and the removal of unwanted shoots, in order to prepare for the new fruiting. This is part of the management which is the process of maintaining, fertilizing, caring for and directing the growth of the vine.
After the harvest in December or January, the vine ceases production and starts to defoliate, until it is completely without leaves. The plant enters a state of hibernation during the winter. As we had an atypical winter, some leaves are still resisting.
The appearance of existing leaves from the previous season is quite degrading, and a person who does not understand the life cycle of the plant does not think that the solution for this is precisely the debranching of what is left of
But it is precisely this action that the plant is waiting for to know that it is time to wake up. The pruning of the vine takes it out of the dormancy state and signals that it should start budding.
The way I have been pruning the vine is my version of what I learned from some instructors in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. The state is a major producer of grapes for wine production.
My vine is a single plant that today has three branches that guide the production of grapes for domestic consumption. In the previous season, about one hundred bunches of grapes were harvested.
At the end of the pruning work, a plant remained that looked dry and dead, which is not true. Life is flowing under the dark bark of the vine and soon we will see the sprouts with the renewal of the leaves and the spectacle of fruiting.
The amount of antlers removed was quite significant, what you must understand is that I reduced the size / length of the plant a lot so that the remaining branches could gain strength and body.
The expectation is that after pruning, around 10 days the first shoots should be seen. Of course I intend to show it to you later. We will follow the evolution of the fruiting process of the vine.

Com esse clima terrível que nos afeta, o fim precoce do inverno nos força a antecipar algumas ações de manutenção do nosso jardim. E hoje eu quero mostrar para vocês como faço o manejo das parreiras.
Inicialmente saiba que chamamos de parreiras:
Videira ou outra trepadeira que se estende sobre uma armação horizontal sustentada por pilares.
Então, as videiras que são as plantas que produzem a uva podem ser chamadas de parreiras, pois são manejadas para serem dispostas em linhas paralelas com altura que facilite a condução do plantio e colheita dos frutos.
Eu tenho apenas três linhas de arame paralelos que servem de guia para o crescimento da videira. Esta foto mostra em detalhes uma destas linhas principais pois é um dos ramos mais antigos da minha planta.
Após o inverno é necessário realizar a poda, que é o desgalhe da planta e a remoção dos brotos indesejados, visando preparar para a nova frutificação. Isso faz parte do manejo que é o processo de manutenção, adubagem, cuidado e direcionamento do crescimento da videira.
Após a colheita em dezembro ou janeiro, a videira cessa a produção e inicia o desfolhamento, até ficar completamente sem folhas. A planta entra em estado de hibernação durante o inverno. Como tivemos um inverno atípico, algumas folhas ainda estão resistindo.
A aparência das folhas existentes da estação anterior é bem degradante, e uma pessoa que não entende o clico de vida da planta não acha que a solução para isto seja justamente o desgalhe do que sobrou de
Mas é justamente essa ação que a planta está esperando para saber que está na hora de acordar. A poda da videira tira ela do estado de dormência e sinaliza que deve iniciar a brotação.
A forma que tenho feito a poda da videira é a minha versão do que aprendi com alguns instrutores do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, no Brasil. O estado é um grande produtor de uvas direcionadas para produção de vinhos.
Minha videira é uma única planta que hoje conta com três ramas que guiam a produção de uva para fins de consumo doméstico. Na temporada anterior, foram colhidos cerca de cem cachos de uva.
Ao final do trabalho de poda, restou uma planta com aparência seca e morta, que não é verdade. A vida está fluido por baixo da casca escura da videira e logo veremos as brotações com a renovação da folhas e o espetáculo da frutificação.
A quantidade de galhadas removidas foi bem significativa, o que você deve entender é que reduzi bastante o tamanho / comprimento da planta para que os galhos remanescentes pudessem ganhar força, encorpar.
A expectativa é que depois da poda, cerca de 10 dias devem ser vistas as primeiras brotações. É claro que tenho a intenção de mostrar pra vocês depois. Vamos acompanhar a evolução do processo de frutificação da videira.
