How is Splinterlands doing these days?
The game is still ticking along. September brings more transactions, but the numbers for battles and active players show a steadier picture. The increase in activity is not showing up equally across the board.
Let’s take a look at the numbers!

The following topics will be covered:
- Number of transactions
- Number of games played
- Number of active daily players
- Spellbook purchases
- SPS Price
Number of Transactions
Transactions represent the overall activity recorded by the game. Here is the chart, starting in July 2021.

There was an explosion in the summer of 2021, with transactions climbing into the millions per day. Activity remained high during 2022, before dropping substantially in 2023 and again in 2024.
The current numbers are much lower than those earlier peaks. The recent increase is easier to see when we zoom in.
Anti-bot rule changes affect comparisons with earlier years. These charts alone cannot explain how much of each change comes from automation, gameplay or demand.
When we zoom in on 2024–2026, we get this:

Transactions averaged 75k per day in September, up from 53k in August, an increase of around 43%. The latest reported day, September 27, had 94k. There is a clear pickup in this metric, although it does not necessarily mean more players.
Number of Battles Played
Here is the chart of the daily number of games played.

This chart covers January 2024 through September 28, 2026.
Battles averaged around 52k per day in September so far, almost unchanged from August. The latest day recorded 50k battles. This is below the roughly 54k daily average in April.
The recent transaction increase has therefore not been matched by a similar increase in battles. Both series remain far below the activity seen during the earlier boom.
Number of Active Players
This is one of the most important metrics for every dApp: how many accounts are active each day? Here is the daily active user series [DAU].

This chart covers 2024–2026. Active accounts do not necessarily represent distinct human players.
The longer history follows a similar broad pattern to transactions.
In September so far, the daily average is 3.5k, and is almost the same as the previous months, so the numbers of players is quite steady in all off 2026.
New Players
As a new player here, we are counting the Spellbook purchases. Here are the reported Spellbook purchases on a monthly basis.

A Spellbook unlocks additional features and a Hive account. Purchases are different from free registrations and do not necessarily count unique new people.
The August 2025 spike reached 533 reported purchases. August 2026 recorded 57, while September has 32 through September 28. That last bar is a partial month.
SPS Price
At the end, the price for the main token, SPS.

The token remains well below one cent, with a small increase in the last days going from $0.003 to 0.004$. At the beginning of 2026 the price was around 0.006 and in the spring of 2026, there was a short lived spike above the 1 cent mark. With the overall crypto market heating up it can be an easy uplift under the right conditions for SPS.
All the best
