Vamos a anclarlo:

Greetings, friends of Holos-Lotus.
Last night I was looking at the magnificent moon, and as I did, I thought of my mom, who was deeply fascinated by this celestial body. The moment took me back to those pleasant times in my adolescence when we’d go up to the rooftop to watch it, and how she used to tell us then: “Talk to her—she’s the woman who’ll understand you best, and if you pay attention, she’ll give you the wisest advice.”

Without realizing it—or perhaps she did, but without using today’s terminology—she was encouraging us to have a conversation with our inner selves, reminding us that the answers always lie within us. Deep down, that’s what Neuro-Linguistic Programming is all about: connecting with our emotions and delving into the reasons behind them.
Today we’re going to wrap up—for now—this series of articles focused on Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and we’ll do so with one of the most practical and transformative pillars of this discipline: anchors.
An anchor is the conscious association between a sensory stimulus (a gesture, a word, a touch) and a positive emotional state. The fundamental idea behind anchors is to become the creators of our own emotional states, rather than relying exclusively on external factors.
As its name suggests, an anchor, in its truest sense, is a heavy object that allows a ship to remain steady against the tide. In the same way, we can create a “body anchor” to maintain serenity or focus during times of turbulence.
Although I find it easy to put this into practice, explaining it can sometimes be a bit tricky—but let’s see if we can figure it out with some practice.
Creating Your Anchor of Serenity

Choose a simple gesture you can perform anytime, anywhere—for example: a firm touch between the tip of your thumb and index finger, massaging your forehead from between your eyebrows toward the temples, or firmly touching your earlobe. This chosen gesture will be associated with a state of deep calm and certainty. Let’s anchor it:
-
Think of a state you want to activate when you need it (for example: Calm or Confidence).
-
Close your eyes and bring to mind a moment in your life when you felt completely calm, fulfilled, and at peace. Relive the scene: what you saw, what you heard, and what you felt in your body.
-
Let that feeling of calm grow in your chest and spread throughout your body.
-
Just as the emotion reaches its peak intensity, perform the gesture you chose (such as pressing the pad of your thumb firmly against your index finger on your dominant hand) for about 5 to 7 seconds.
-
Open your eyes, shake your hands a little, and think of something neutral (like today’s date or what you had for breakfast) to snap out of the state.
-
Repeat this process 3 or 4 times in a row. Each time, the association between the gesture and the feeling of calm will grow stronger.
For this tool to be truly effective, keep the following in mind:
• Perform the gesture right at the peak of the emotion.
• Do the exercise in a quiet place, free from distractions and mixed emotions.
• Repetition strengthens the neural connection. Do it as many times as you can throughout the day, especially during the first week.
When you feel tension, anxiety, or distraction, simply repeat that same gesture with the same firmness. Your body and mind will remember the path and bring back that stored calm.
Let’s Discuss
I invite you to try this exercise and share your experience in the comments or in a post for the community: What emotion or state would you like to anchor today? How did you feel when you tried the technique?
