What? I have to slice my own bread? What ever happened to the saying, The best thing, Since Sliced Bread?

Well, here is the thing, I bought these hamburger buns that are supposed to be pre-sliced, but they were not sliced at all. I was trying to find the sliced part, but there was none.

What happened? Maybe their slicing machine was out of order and some of the buns like the ones I bought didn't get to get sliced at all.

Well shoot. I have to slice these hamburger buns myself or just throw them out. Well, I don't like throwing out food, unless it goes bad, like the bread gets moldy, but at the time the bread wasn't moldy, so I go and slice the buns when needed that is.

And of course you need a sharp knife, not a butter knife, unless you need to cut into the butter that is, but that is another story.

So I like to use a long knife if I am to cut through bread. And guess what? If the knife is not sharp, it is not going to cut through that bread, cleanly that is.

Here is a picture of my knife I use for slicing the bread:

So you do need to have a sharpener to make that knife blade sharp, I use this thing that my friend Mohammad showed me.

He was cooking in the his kitchen and showed me his knife sharpener. To me it didn't even look like a knife sharpener, but it did sharpen his knife. So I took note of the thing. He even told me his friend wanted it, but he said, no, cause it was the best sharpener that he ever owned.

Well, this was almost 30 years ago that this happened and one day I was in a Dollar type store and in those days everything was a dollar. Well, that had a whole bunch of these weird looking sharpeners and since I remembered Mohammad and his sharpener, I went ahead and bought one. I should have bought 10 now that I think about it, but I just bought one.

Here it is in the picture:

Find a sharpener that looks like this and notice how your knives get really sharpen when using it the right way.

So anyway I do sharpen my knife and as a patty of hamburger is frying in the pan, I take one of those buns and cut cleanly through the bun. I even have a special toaster that toasts just one side of the bread. I use that so I can have a somewhat similar type of hamburger bun where the inside of the bun is toasted, but not the outside.

Of course I do have to dress the bun after it is toasted on the inside. I just have mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup. So I mixed the three in a peanut butter cap and then spread it one the toasted sides.

By this time I already flipped the burger, to let it cook on both sides. Did I ever tell you in my younger years I used to flip burgers at McDonalds? Well, I did that right after high school. I think McDonalds can be a good place to work for someone right out of high school. In the later part of my life I retired from AT&T, and that too is another story.

Yes, if a kid can just live with his parents and give some money to them for room and board and then save money. Can you imagine now days a kid working a McDonalds and making $20 an hour. He would pay room and board to his parents, well, that is what my parents did to me, and I think it was a good idea. This would make the kid more financially responsible.

I would tell the kid to read, Richest Man In Babylon, by George S. Clason so he will know how to save money and how to invest money. Maybe even buy some XRP which might be the new way we buy and sell.

So here we are, I was talking about slicing my own bread and we weaved in and out of different little stories.

Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, with Jesus speaking, I am the vine, ye the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5.
