When I was growing up my mom hated it when I spent so much time on my mobile phone. It’s one of those things that irritated her about me and I make it seem so because I am carried away when I’m pressing my phone, especially when she needs help and I’m there but I am pressing my phone, this makes her angry and it’s one of the reasons why she does not like me pressing my phone. Spending so much time with my phone is one of the habits everybody tried to correct me for when I was young, but I realize that the habit saved me, don’t get me wrong spending too much time on your PC or phone can have a bad impact in your life but can have a good effect on my own life too, Does that mean it’s a bad habit or not?

Do you know that the habits that save my life can ruin your life? This is because the way we get attached to things is different and our control over our environment and the kind of person we are are not always the same. Spending time with my phone helped me and if you tried it, it might be your greatest regret of your life but does that make it a good habit or a bad habit? What you should be asking is What makes a good habit and also what makes a bad habit? Ask yourself a simple question is the habit you are doing now aligned with your goals and will the habit you doing now be productive in the future?

No habit is bad

The truth is that there is no bad habit and there is nothing like a good habit because what is good for you might be bad for me, but there is always an effective habit and this simply means that the habit that you choose can be effective for you and just because your habit is effective for you may not be effective for me. An example is people who make a living from spending time with their phone or doing some task online, if you are the type that spends time with your phone just to consume YouTube videos or to follow trends compared to the first two people I mentioned you are not getting the same value. When people see me writing posts, they complain about how much time I spend with my phone, but in reality, I’m working on my phone, but this does not apply to everybody.

Even at the gym, people have different goals. We have people that want to be bulky and we have people that want to have an athletic body. The way they will consume food will be different one needs more calories and the other one needs to be in a calorie deficit. It is important to know that they cannot have the same eating habits simply because they have different goals. If the guy that wants to be bulky is on calorie deficit you won’t be able to build up and that is how we should consider our habit to know if it is effective and works with our goals. No habit is bad just that one is effective for a different goal and the other one is not effective for the same goal.

Don't abuse the habit you don't

This is the main reason why you can’t just abuse the habit you don’t know, when you consume a lot of food People might criticize you because they don’t understand your goals. Sometimes our habit is designed in such a way that helps our goals and because people are criticizing us that doesn’t mean we should stop it, as long as it aligns with our goal and it’s effective we should keep doing it.

Thanks for your time.
