Share Your Representative Object —This Is the October Interactive Activity for Sunday of the Seventh Day—

At Sunday Seventh Day, we want to get to know each other better and create interactive activities in which everyone can participate, as these have helped us get to know one another and gain tools to manage our emotions, improve our self-esteem, and foster empathy.

When we share our stories, we revisit them, come to understand them better, and grow stronger together —and nothing tells a story better than an object that holds special meaning for us! That’s why, as we begin the month of October, this interactive activity will help us get to know one another better and foster more effective communication that builds deeper connections.

Building Stronger Bonds

First and foremost, I want to thank all the readers in our @holos-lotus community on the #hive platform because we’ve shown that we’re a robust community that’s growing and getting to know one another.

In this Seventh Day Column, Sunday is for building more authentic and close-knit bonds, and our activities serve as a way to get to know one another better—which fosters efficient decision-making, self-esteem, self-concept, and emotional intelligence.

On the other hand, getting to know others within their own contexts and stories allows us to communicate better, foster empathy and understanding, and build deeper connections.

So, in search of the best ways to get to know one another, I found many activities online that encourage interaction; one of them is called the search for a representative object.

It involves showing a meaningful object or image that expresses who we are, what we feel, and what it can teach others.

This object that represents me is what will tell a story—the lesson that is ours and that we’re going to share—whether it’s an object, a place, or a situation that represents a life lesson.

And you have time to think about it…

Share your object

I’m sure 500 words are enough for you to explain why you chose this object to share with us, what it means, and why it’s important in your life.

The reason, in a way, defines you…

And yes, we’re putting ourselves out there, but in the best possible way, because talking about ourselves can sometimes be quite difficult, whereas sharing our thoughts on something that’s important in our lives can help others better understand and empathize with us.

In this Interactive Activity, we choose an image or take a photo of the object or corner that defines us; and while what we want to share and show may be clear in our minds, it’s perfectly fine to take your time choosing it.

Sharing it will spark a story—you’ll see…

This is my object. Taken from Pixabay-Jarmoluk

My object

I come from a small fishing village, from a family of fishermen.

In fact, after finishing my studies, I returned here to work.

My father had been fishing on Lake Maracaibo since he was 10 years old alongside his older brothers, and at age 16, he moved to the oil-producing region of our state to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering and began working for oil companies.

These fishing boats have always been a part of our lives at home; they’ve remained close to us—in photographs, paintings, and memories.

Years ago, most of my cousins and uncles fished to support their families, and even today they do so as a recreational activity that runs in their blood.

And although over time my father moved away from fishing entirely, images remain in photographs and oil paintings—such as those by the Zulia painter Azael Espina and his son, Azael Ernesto —which today adorn our family home.

For us, the Rios family, fishing has also been an important symbol of our religious beliefs, and some of us are called to this beautiful work, which seeks equal value for all human beings and service as an important part of our lives.

For me, this image represents not only my origins, my ancestors, and the activities that sustained us, but also the religious heritage they bequeathed to us and that shaped us.

I warmly invite you to be part of this opening event, where, as always, we will grow closer together.

Because our community champions the value of unity and the strengthening of well-being.
