¡Hola Chicos!
Hi everyone!
This isn’t a recipe post; instead, I’m going to share the story behind this guava bread and the whole journey it took to finally make it.
It all started last week when my husband said, "Honey, if you happen to see any guava bread at the bakery, could you please pick some up?" I didn't find any that day, so I just brought home some regular sweet bread instead.
Last Friday, he asked me to get some again, but at the bakery I checked, the price seemed incredibly high. That’s when I thought, "I know how to make bread—I’ll just buy everything I need and make it myself!"
On Saturday, after getting home from work, I went to several stores to pick up all the necessary ingredients. I arrived home, super excited with everything I’d bought, and told my husband about my plan. That was when I remembered that our blender was broken... How was I supposed to blend the guava?

So, I started watching videos online in search of alternatives, until I came across one by a woman who explained that, instead of blending the guavas, she cooked them and then passed them through a strainer, which allowed her to break them down.
I then chopped the guavas—all two kilos of them—into the smallest pieces I could, and left them to cook in water until I noticed they were falling apart.

By passing them through a strainer—which, incidentally, was made of metal—I managed to crush them and remove the seeds completely ♥.
I was super happy because the thing that had been causing me the most trouble was now resolved.

Then I put them back into the pot and added the lemon juice and sugar. I cooked it over low heat, stirring constantly, for an hour. The jam turned out perfect 😍
I set it aside until the next day, as I had finished close to midnight and was completely exhausted from my workday.

The next day, I faced a new challenge: my scale was broken. It had broken the last time I used it to weigh something, so I had to estimate the measurements—essentially doing it by eye.
Despite this, I managed to make the dough. I knew it wouldn’t turn out perfect, but under the circumstances, it was the best I could do. In baking, precision with weights is essential for achieving a perfect result.

The dough turned out a bit too runny for my liking, but I didn’t want to add more flour because I already felt the bread might end up a little dry.
So, I managed to stretch it out as best I could, spread on the jam, and shaped the loaf. It ended up being longer than I’d anticipated, so I had to give it a rather unique shape.
After letting it rise, it grew enormous—and it expanded even more while baking. A few minutes later, it was ready.
The dough didn’t turn out quite as I’d expected, but it was still very tasty. My husband and son enjoyed the bread, and I couldn’t have been happier. ♥
