Here's my 2 cents (in reverse order no less).
Tags
I'm trying to think if I've ever used what you call "tags" and maybe have only two or three times. So I agree with you on attention and flow, toss it. The one under 'Trending Topics" for Threads is getting longer and longer, however I do use that one to contribute to certain topics, and to find lesser-populated Threads to give some attention to.
But I don't know what can be done with that. Shortening it would make it look better but cut its effectiveness. Maybe a Threads search box? I dunno. I'm also wondering if there might be an SEO benefit to keeping the current ungainly, but comprehensive Threads topic list (I don't know any more about that subject either).
Notifications and Colors
I agree with you on notifications, as a combination between the way Ecency does it and how Hive shows only certain ones to the user. I already use Hiveblocks to see everything anyway, so this would cut the workload for the devs.
I was also thinking about what you said concerning colors. If they wanted to include something, maybe ad a green circle around the avatars of users who are currently online, and a red circle around those who aren't. Just a thought.
I'm wondering if your idea to have a color bar around different posts wouldn't make the site look too "busy" and distracting. I like the sections we have currently that highlight top-level and curated posts better. But I would like to know if you; @anomadsoul are currently online in case I wanted to ask you something and needed a quick response.
Therefore adding a green or red "ring around the avatar" would be a good idea and not too distracting at all.
Community Hubs and Blogs
From one hard-core Lion to another: I LOVE your take on long-form content vs short-form, as I specialize in the former which doesn't get as much attention here on Hive. I also like the idea about pixelation and would like to see more of an example on that. We'd just have to agree on a number that separates the two (1,000 words maybe?).
I agree with you on the term 'Community Pages' kinds reminds me of the old GeoCities days (and not in a good way).
To be honest with you, I've never clicked on the 'Communities' tags on LeoFinance not once, ever, until now, and had no idea what it was. 'Hubs' it is! But what does that term imply? A connection, right? I love your idea about the icons and mouse-over for more info. But how about a true hub and spokes (or connected circle instead) identifying each category?
Example under Gaming: Splinterlands connected to Genesis League Soccer, connected to Wrestling Organization Online or WOO, you get the picture.
Viewing one icon would remind you of the others (for a new user), so after say a WOO session, they could come back and check out the other games (maybe time for some soccer?) which would have the effect of increasing traffic to all of the "stations" in the gaming hub. Just an idea of mine.
News
Discord is a pain in the ass which is why I rarely use it, there I said it. The double login and verification keep me away. LeoFinance has can take a cue from the Yahoo message boards and the stocks section which I use to view news, information and discussions on stocks, they're still in use and popular. They even have a cryptocurrencies section!
This is one of the places I go to for financial news and stock chatter. For instance, here's the section on AAPL:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL?p=AAPL&.tsrc=fin-srch
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/community
Of course, this would have to be curated, and might be a service for down the line.
So there are my "quick and dirty" thoughts (that didn't come out right) :) Sorry this was so long, but I'm as passionate about the success of LeoFinance as you are and only want the best and brightest future for LeoFinance. :)
