Last week I said I will test BeeSwap for a week to see if I should permanently switch to it from TribalDex or not.
Conclusion after a week: yes, but not in all cases.
And now the explanation: yes, I will continue using BeeSwap because the user experience is better on BeeSwap, but no, I can't use BeeSwap exclusively because it lacks some features other UIs have.
Let's start with the NOs.
-
It doesn't have a regular market with order books, and for many tokens on Hive-Engine, this is the only way to trade them. Connected to this, it doesn't have a chart for token prices (or the depth, or the volumes), that can be found on TribalDex.
-
BeeSwap is very powerful for diesel pool operations and for the additional information it includes, but it doesn't provide information about the recent fees earned in each pool (and the volume), and we can find that on TribalDex.
-
If you use the OpenHive NFT market on TribalDex, you don't have one on BeeSwap.
-
You don't have the UI elements to vote for Hive-Engine witnesses, Hive-Engine smart contracts ("Contracts" menu on TribalDex), or access offerings from the Hive-Engine team on BeeSwap.
-
If you need to deposit or withdraw huge amounts of HIVE, Hive-Engine/TribalDex are the only option, but BeeSwap offers pretty deep liquidity on both sides too
If none of those is an issue, BeeSwap is great. Let's see why.
The list of YESes.
-
BeeSwap supports multi-account logins and easy switching between them (great if you need to switch back and forth between accounts).
-
BeeSwap is instant when moving between menus, TribalDex always loads the information from the chain, apparently, which introduces a significant lag at any change of menu or after every operation.
-
Considering the above point, BeeSwap is quicker when doing any operation in the diesel pool, because the refresh after the operation is instant. It also shows the progress of the operation until completion in a much nicer (and potentially useful) way.
-
On adding liquidity to diesel pools, BeeSwap can automatically fill the max amounts that can be added from both tokens (in a 50:50% distribution)
-
If one is looking for information on a certain diesel pool or the ones with the best rewards, BeeSwap is better than TribalDex; for checking on fees or volume though, TribalDex is better
-
BeeSwap offers great sorting and filtering options
-
You can "favorite" tokens to be placed in a separate list at the top (see the screenshot below this list)
-
easily visible and accessible information about active delegations, unstaking in progress
-
system of checking the performance of nodes on Hive and Hive-Engine (switch automatically or manually)
-
BeeSwap also offers wallet operations at the base layer, and "conversions" to and from the base layer to Hive-Engine have a lower fee than on TribalDex (not the lowest on the market), at a good volume (not as good as TribalDex)
-
BXT stakeholders receive half of the generated fees
-
BeeSwap includes a simple and useful Splinterlands wallet
Here's a screenshot showing the filters, favorites, and the note that can be expanded with active stake delegations for one of the tokens in my account:
Final Words
I will continue using BeeSwap because I like it and saves me time. There are some operations I can't do on BeeSwap, like selling or buying tokens that don't have diesel pool pairs, on the regular exchange. Or if I want to see the chart for a token, then I'll also use TribalDex. I also check sometimes the volumes and fees, and that's something else I find on TribalDex and not on BeeSwap. But otherwise, gerber has done a great job with BeeSwap already!
