I saw my post on why and how to set up vote multipliers for Hive-Engine tribe tokens was well received, with some people not updating them in a long time and others never setting them or not knowing what they were.
In the meantime, I've done more experimenting myself and want to share the results with you.
So, I wrote the previous post after noticing a 20% difference between my HP voting power and my LEO voting power.
After a couple of days and tweaking my vote multiplier for LEO twice, here's how the situation stands:
Almost at parity, my HP and LP.
Now, if you go to leodex to change your vote multiplier, here's what the window to set the multiplier might look like.
I took this screenshot from the previous post when I still had a multiplier of 2.
All text in this window gives you the impression that the multiplier must be an integer number only. But is it the case? Let's see!
After noticing that in my case 1x was too low and 2x was too high for LEO, I thought, hey, why not try with 1.5x? I didn't know if it'll be validated, but let's see the result:
Yes, a non-integer is accepted, and this multiplier is much closer to what I need to keep my two voting powers in balance.
If you only entered integer numbers as multipliers, this little tip might help you create a better balance between your voting powers and a less frequent update of the multipliers.
And yes, that means a multiplier lower than 1x is accepted as well, but normally this doesn't make sense unless you want to rebalance your voting powers quicker, since all posts can potentially earn HP rewards, unlike tribe rewards, which are distributed only if the post includes the correct tribe tag(s) and they are sometimes subject to stricter rules regarding the type of content that is acceptable for each tribe.
Try the vote multipliers out! But first, see what tokens you have unbalanced.
How do you do that?
Check the VP for the respective token and compare it to the voting power for HP. If there is a big discrepancy, you need to adjust the multiplier.
Here's one of my token's voting power (VP), from leodex (Rewards menu):
When I compare it to my VP for HP (83% <- you can find it from many interfaces, including all the top front ends), I see a difference of around -15%, meaning that the VP for the token is drained quicker than the VP for my HP and that means that I need to lower my vote multiplier for that token.
Conversely, here
I need a higher voting multiplier to drain this token's VP quicker...
See how it works?
Happy experimenting! Enjoy your curation rewards! 😉
