Yesterday, the @leogrowth team (or is @anomadsoul an orchestra-man?) published a post with some great guidelines for setting goals and with some incentives if we set and achieve some challenging (but achievable) ones for Leo Power for next year.

I would have preferred to talk about my Hive goals for 2023 in the first week of next year, but since I see people are anxious, I'll start with my LEO Power goal now. In fact, from my goals for next year, it's the only one I already know exactly where it'll start.

Having already had an LEO Power goal in 2022 (not for the entire year though), I have some bearings regarding where the goal limits should be.

Learning from 2022

In 2022, I "officially" included the LEO Power goal in my Hive goals on the Week 24th update. I started the goal with 5.6k LP and finished it with 10.5k LP (and 500 LEO temporary delegation). I completed my goal on LPUD, which was a little more than 2 weeks before the deadline.

That means on average 189 LEO staked per week or roughly 810 per month.

These are cold numbers, and reality showed significant fluctuations every week, mostly due to how much author rewards came in. But also curation rewards fluctuate. Even our returns in the amount of LEO from delegation to leo.voter aren't identical.

All I'm using these numbers for is a guideline, to see where I am and if I need additional resources pushed into a goal to get it on track.

My Leo Power Goal for 2023

I'll start the year with 10500 LEO staked and a 500 delegation for what I assume will be a very short while after the year starts.

My goal will be to more than double that amount.

22500 Leo Power at the end of 2023.

Initially, I wanted to set this goal to 20000.

But after doing some calculations, it became obvious that the goal would have been as challenging as it was this year, maybe less, because the curation rewards increased. And it wasn't very challenging this year, although I had my challenging goals.

At these numbers, I would need 231 LEO staked every week to complete the goal at the deadline. There are 12k LEO needed in total, so I'll set the guideline at 1k per month. Although the length of the month matters. Also, later on, curation rewards should increase.

For now, I'll use these round numbers. If I find it necessary, I'll update it to be more precise in one of the monthly posts.

My Strategy

I won't change anything from what worked this year:

  • posting every day on Leofinance (hopefully)
  • curating both manually and following leo.voter curation trail
  • delegating HIVE Power to leo.voter
  • using Threads - I think that'll change since Leofinance will become a sort of Threads 2.0
  • working voluntarily on SplinterGlossary, which brings value to Leofinance
  • participating in every LPUD

My strategy is based a lot on the compounding effect. As the stake grows, curation rewards may grow (not necessarily - depends on how much the voting stake grows on Leofinance, in total).

If or when necessary, I will increase my delegation to leo.voter.

And there is another strategy I use with all my goals when they are in trouble: diverting more of my Hive resources pie into accomplishing them. I have prepared something different for my Hive goals in 2023 that would work well for LEO too, but I won't write about it before I publish my post with my new Hive goals.

However, to me, the most important goal is the yearly goal. Monthly goals are just guidelines, and I won't do everything in my power to complete them if things don't look well.

Final Words

Leo Power is one of my main goals for 2023. As a main goal, I don't expect to miss it in the end. The journey to the end may be a different thing. It can have ups and downs. We will see.

Only "unfavorable" market conditions (LEO price way up for long periods of time - unfavorable for the Leo Power goal, I mean) coupled with unexpectedly low rewards would be a scenario where I believe this yearly goal could be missed.
