Week Adrian Lenses.jpg

Let's see what we have for this week's roundup. I had to exclude a number of smaller updates this week because we had more than usual bigger ones.

Week on Hive

HiveFest Rosarito Related

For anyone attending HiveFest, there is another way to share your travel plans with the organizers so they can meet you at the airport in San Diego or Tijuana and assure transport to the HiveFest location. There are also 4 new speakers announced in the same post, so check them out. First speakers were announced here.

Impressive video tour of the HiveFest locations, following Dan and @starkerz. They tasted everything to make sure food and drinks check out for HiveFest participants. Looked... delicious!

See for yourself!

One can become a HiveFest sponsor by overpaying on the ticket or by buying a sponsorship package. Details here.

Hive at RareEvo Colorado Next Week

Hive will be present at the RareEvo multichain event in Colorado on the showfloor, speaking, and sponsoring the event. Since this is an US event, I assume it isn't cheap to sponsor, but it helps it's not in the bull market, and prices are probably much lower now. It is an opportunity for Hive to connect to various other developers and for a few projects on Hive to become known. I haven't had time to read the post carefully since I saw it this morning, but it looks like besides crimsonclad with her keynote speech on "decentralized, voluntary identity being the heart of value creation", it's games we are featuring at this event.

Want to be in the Freechain Film?

There is a call to action to provide a short video answer on the question "What does Hive mean to you?". Check out the rules and if you want your chance to be in the Freechain film and possibly receive some big upvotes, this can be it.

Hive Core Dev Monthly Meeting

There was a shorter Hive Core meeting this week.

There are three things I want to emphasize from this meeting:

  • Blocktrades said: "We're going to do a release candidate probably this week for just about everything, I guess. So that means HiveD, HAF, and pretty much all the Hive apps and some of the other new apps as well, hopefully."
  • He also said that HAF APIs will be more decentralized than HiveD APIs.
  • howo or gandalf or both will be looking into updating the dev documentation

Share Your HOWTO on 3Shorts & Win a MASSIVE Delegation!

I used their clickbait title, but this is something genuine, backed by theycallmedan and starkerz. It's a way to push tons of useful content to 3Speak Shorts while showing how knowledgeable the community is and potentially winning 3 huge HP delegations. Check it out!

Q3-Q4 "Bridge" Proposal from Value Plan

Conferences season has starting, and Value Plan has asked for funds in a 'bridge' proposal between the two remaining quarters. As we learn from the proposal, this is not additional funds they ask for, they request funds in advance from what would normally come in Q4, to make sure they have funding for participation in the planned conferences.

Bridging between Fediverse and Hive

@Hivetrending is looking into creating a bridge between Hive and Fediverse (Mastodon app uses this protocol) via HivePosh. You can find more details from their post.

New Colonization Interface from Exode

I didn't want to include any game updates this week due to all the Hive-related news we have, but @elindos posts so rarely that I thought it would be unfair. This is his update.

Life of Hive

CryptoLatinFest in Bogotá, Colombia

@ecoinstant and other Hivers met at CryptoLatinFest this week. I only kept one post from the event, but there were multiple throughout the week.

"Hive Goes to School" Project

Videos are often very revealing. I like how focused some of these teachers seem to be to understand what their students are being taught (about Web3, Hive, Liketu). Check it out!

Hive Orientation & OCD Onboarding with Teachers from Kal-anan National High School (Philippines)

The other corner of the world and another video showing students and teachers still awake in their classes, in fact, paying attention, smiling, laughing and generally being more relaxed than I remember some classes in my school years. Great vibe over there!

Interesting Stats About Hive in Sucre

@demotruk found statistical evidence of the growth in popularity Hive has in Sucre, but at the same time, an on-site survey in the center of Cumaná (2 different locations) revealed Hive is not yet known there (from a sample of 100 people of 146 surveyed, none heard of Hive).

Week in the Crypto World

Splinterlands, the Company, included in Inc 5000 List for 2023

Would you have thought the company behind Splinterlands is one of the fastest growing private companies in America during the last 3 years? Obviously, the 2,240% growth doesn't come from 2023. And here's the news release by the company. Now you will see how many more VCs and potential partnerships will be knocking at their doors...

Rough Week in Crypto... For Traders Caught with Long Positions

Bitcoin crashed this week down to 25k from 29k, and then slowly recovered to 26k, but in its tumble triggered 1$ bn in liquidations. Leveraged traders lost a lot of money, and I can't say I'm sorry for them. Many of them assume insane risks and end up wiping out their entire holdings in a blink of an eye.
