Week Adrian Lenses.jpg

Let's see what we have for this week's roundup.

Week on Hive

More HiveFest Previews

@alessandrawhite had a great idea to go to Rosarito and check out the location of HiveFest 8 before everyone else and then share her impressions. Here's more from her series for Hivefest:

Ecency Integrated Videos Into Their Interface

Ecency is the first front end to finish an integration with 3Speak, allowing their users to upload, encode and publish posts containing video from the Ecency front end (as opposed to from 3Speak).

This is the tutorial from @good-karma himself on how to do it.

Splinterlands Land News

During this week's Town Square was announced that Land 1.5 will become available on the mavericks' test server this weekend. Not yet, at the time of writing. Releasing it to the mavericks means that shortly after will come the full release.

Leofinance Updates

Leofinance is rebranding, particularly looking to drop the "finance" part for the brand name to appeal to a more general audience, while retaining the community with the same name and profile. A public consultation was launched to see what should be the new brand. The person who inspires the new brand name will win 500 HBD.

At the same time, an activity competition is going on on Leofinance this weekend.

SPK Network Team Meeting Recording

I think this was a pretty good team meeting for the SPK Network, and if you follow their work, you might want to check this out.

Magic Maps for TravelFeed Users

Users of the travelfeel.io interface should be happy to see there is now an easier way to enter their itineraries on the map. You can find all the details here.

TerraCorre - Developers Teaming Up

An exciting announcement from TerraCore this week talks about multiple things, but what I'd like to emphasize here is the collaboration between @crypt0gnome (backend, gameplay) and @asgarth (frontend, UX). If anyone doesn't recognize the latter username, he is the lead dev of PeakD and PeakMonsters, among others.

Another Collaboration Announced

PsyberX (Royal Reptile Game Studios) and @spiritsurge (Surgent Gaming Studios) started a collaboration to "revolutionize the gaming landscape on Hive."

dCity: 3rd Edition to Finish Minting

dCity announced its 3rd edition of cards will end minting one month from their post. A new combined building is introduced too: social media company, which includes the new Influencer citizen.

Life of Hive

More Details about Hive Sucre and HOLA Supercenter

Last week, this collaboration was a major announcement. For those interested, this post includes more details and clarifications.

10th Borehole in Ghana Officially Launched

TV coverage, photo and video, impressions from locals, etc. They've got everything. Plus the actual borehole working perfectly. Quite professional.

We can also realize by watching the videos how many problems are there still to fix in the world and how limited our possibilities to help are (at this point).

Here are some of the posts with videos on this topic from this week:

Museum of Fine Arts in Caracas to Have a NFT Gallery on Hive

I couldn't wait and reported on this earlier this week in one of my posts. Let's see how this project develops because it can have a nice future.

Introducing Hive to Teachers in Cebu, Philippines Continues

I don't have the patience to read through this post again to refresh my memory, but it seems they've got a series of onboarding seminars going on there.

From the first few sections, we also learn there is a Masters thesis that will showcase Hive. There weren't any additional details provided.

Since we reached this point, I can't help but add we have here in Europe as part of a course for the MBA at Lille University (France) the studying of our blockchain. This second semester, students needed to create one or two posts on Hive on given themes for at least one part of their final mark. The examination is over, but you can check their posts on ULille Blockchain community.

Hive Race Car in Greece

After missing the rally in Monte Carlo, Hive race car is back in Greece for the Acropolis Rally.

Geek Convention (Geek Con) in Cumaná

Looks like in Cumaná there's more going on than HBD commerce. On September 2, Geek Con will be held, quite close to Hola Supercenter, from what I read. Here are the details.

Week in the Crypto World

Paypal Launches PYUSD on Ethereum

There's been a lot of talk about the decision of Paypal to join the stablecoins game by launching the Paypal USD coin, which will run on Ethereum.

Optimists view this as a new contender in the stablecoin space which will generate progress in the field through competition and increase in stablecoin volumes.

Pessimists know the modus operandi of the company and see or have heard of the various control options they left in the smart contract, which make it more similar to a centralized ledger than to a coin on a public blockchain.

I'm in the second category. Here are more details.

Paying Gas Fees on Ethereum with Your Visa Card...

... at the cost of full traceability and KYC of your Ethereum transactions for which you pay gas fees using Visa (my note).

But many will take something like this for the ease of use. I have to give it to Visa for playing it smart: slowly becoming indispensable in crypto for the masses while centralizing all the information that will make them as useful to those in power as in the traditional fiat system. Here are the details.
