I found these photos on my memory card from last year and decided it was time to export those and look over them, haha.
Last year in September, I took a short trip to central Estonia to go and take a short hike and to see a scenic lake that I think I had not visited before. The name is Kõnnu lake, which is part of a bigger swampland, the Rabivere Bog.
The trail from the parking spot to the bog took me about 25 minutes to walk, if I remember it correctly, through some beautiful fields and forests.
Here is the shot I took in the forest and farther away you can see the lake itself.
Having reached the lake, I instantly saw how scenic it was. The beautiful sunset, calm windless weather and birds chirping definitely contributed to the experience.
The lake itself is about 4 meters deep and reaches this depth pretty much instantly. This is how bog lakes usually are. There is also a small dock that can be used to jump straight into the water. I didnt go swimming that evening.
It's possible to walk around the entire lake, but it's difficult. It's still a bog and very wet with squishy ground. I tried to walk around a bit, but couldn't go very far because of the wet ground. If it's been a very dry summer, only then is it possible to circle the lake and succeed so with dry feet.
I stayed there about 45 minutes and started into the sunset.
After the sun went away and the temperature dropped, I could quickly notice the fog appearing over the lake. Made the scenery a bit mystic-looking.
It started to get dark pretty quickly. Since I didn't want to be left in total darkness going back through the thick forest, I had to start going.
It was a great short stay and a walk next to the Kõnnu lake that evening, sure would love to go back and maybe even circle the lake someday when it's a dry period!
