I have to admit....This was unlike any other day I've ever had on social media!

And I do hope it's a lesson for not only everyone reading it, but also for me as well to remember....Things gt lost in translation behind screens.

Let's set this up....

So I share this picture of my dog this morning, both on Threads and on Facebook. The reason I shared it on Facebook is because this is the platform I community with old friends and family on. My age demographic, and the people I grew up around....Aren't really TikTokers lol

The post was meant to be funny.

My dog was just beginning her heat cycle. Which means she's going to be bleeding for the next few weeks. And as we had just moved into our new home, we didn't want 'drips' all over the floors.

And this is the 6th dog I have owned in my life. All of them females. And each one of them, I got spayed for multiple reasons, but at the end of the day the biggest reason was for the dog's health.

But this time, we didn't have enough time to get her done, so the vet said don't spay her a few months before a cycle or at least 8 weeks after. So again....This was expected that we'd have to deal with some bleeding.

Anywho, long story short I threw this picture up as a joke and to 'have some fun' at my dog's expense as she walks around with a diaper and cone of shame for a few weeks.

I thought nothing of it other than a good laugh....

And that's when my wake up call happened on social media...

As you can see from this exchange, someone on my friends list didn't think it was funny. And decided to lecture me about responsible dog ownership.

Let me again reiterate....I've owned 6 female dogs. I get each of them spayed. But even if I didn't have that habit, I just thought it was super weird for someone who, funny enough, I don't really know at all to tell me what I should or should not do for my dogs.

Here's the problem I find with social media, which I'm sure everyone has experienced before...

Jokes, comments and sayings get lost in translation online. Sometimes we say or post things that may seem funny to us, but offends others?

I'm not sure that will ever change because everyone has an opinion and if you don't agree with them, you are wrong....(Them the rules!!!!)

But this was just such a weird experience for me....I decided to chalk it up as someone having a bad day, and wanted to voice their opinion on a post they didn't agree with. But I think the problem was....

They never understood the 'meaning' behind the post. It was never meant to say, I don't want to get my dog spayed, far from it. It was just a funny picture that my wife took of our mean ol' nasty Rottweiler and I wanted to share it.

Maybe get a laugh or two from others out of it. No way was it meant to offend.

But alas....This is the interwebs and well...We offend very easily these days.

My takeaway....I need to spend more time on $LEO and $HIVE and less time on Zuck's platform lol
