80 HBD gone🥲

While writing a prompt on forgetfulness in one of the communities of this Blockchain, a memory of a similar experience struck me, but I didn't want to add it to the article because it would make it a very long one. So I decided to make it a separate article.

If I remember clearly, it was last year, 2024, and I was to make a transaction of 80 HBD to fiat because I needed money.
I knew the process, and I had mastered it because I had done many transactions like that already.
It was early Monday morning, around 6 a.m. I wanted to start the day with the money (fiat) handy, and that’s what prompted me to make the transaction so early.

I went to Binance to copy the deposit address, which comprised a username and a memo. I copied both of them and went back to the Hive wallet and transferred the 80 HBD to the copied details correctly.

Did you read that correctly?
After I had transferred it, it was as if my real sense returned to my brain. I suddenly remembered that I had transferred 80 HBD and not HIVE. OMG!

You know, Binance does not support HBD. If HBD is to be converted to fiat, it must first be converted to HIVE, and it's the HIVE that's to be transferred to Binance.

I know you want to say, “You must be a baby in the cryptoverse to have made such a mistake.” But that’s a lie because I had done numerous successful transactions without any mistakes.
What happened that day was a big mistake, which came as a result of forgetfulness and hurriedness.

I remember telling a friend about the mistake at the time, and the friend told me it happened because I wasn’t used to the system. I laughed, because he didn’t know that anybody can forget and make mistakes.
We are humans, and forgetfulness is one of our characteristics. You can’t take that away from us. Even the most intelligent people forget things and make costly mistakes. Or haven’t you heard of situations where doctors forgot working items in a patient’s body after surgery?
You can’t tell me those doctors are not smart or intelligent. They are. It’s just that nature decided to have its way at that particular moment.

Still talking about making mistakes in transactions on this Blockchain—there was a time a friend of mine wanted to transfer 20 HBD to me, and she mistakenly, out of forgetfulness and hastiness, transferred the 20 HBD to a wrong account that had a similar name to mine.

My name has a double 'y', and she didn’t remember to add the double 'y' when making the transaction.
To tell you the truth, this friend is a very intelligent person. I’ve been with her for a long time, and I know her.

So, forgetfulness is real. It happens, and it happens to everyone—with no exception.
