When I think about crypto and where it could be in the next 5 to 10 years, one thing comes to mind, we are probably still very early.
Crypto has already changed a lot. A few years ago, most people only talked about Bitcoin. Today, we have stablecoins, DeFi, NFTs, blockchain games, digital assets, and now AI is becoming part of the conversation too.
But what will crypto actually look like in the future?
I don't think most people will be talking about crypto every day like they do now. Instead, I think it could slowly become part of our normal lives.
For example, sending money to someone in another country could become much faster and cheaper. Instead of waiting days for an international transfer, you might be able to send money in seconds.
I also think banks and crypto will probably work more closely together. Some people believe crypto will completely replace banks but I'm not sure about that. I think it's more likely that banks will start using blockchain and digital currencies to make their services faster and easier.
Another area I'm interested in is DeFi, or decentralized finance. The idea is pretty simple, people can lend, borrow, save, and move money using online systems without always needing a traditional bank in the middle.
Right now, DeFi can be confusing for beginners. There are wallets, passwords, fees, different networks and many other things to understand.Hopefully, that changes.
If crypto becomes easier to use, I think many more ordinary people will start using it. And then we have AI and this could be one of the biggest changes.
Imagine telling your AI assistant, “Pay this bill,” or “Send $50 to my friend,” and it handles everything for you. Crypto could make it easier for AI programs to send and receive money online.
That sounds a little strange today, but 10 years from now it might seem completely normal. I also think digital ownership will become more important.
Instead of only owning things in the physical world, we may own more digital items that have real value. This could include concert tickets, memberships, certificates, game items, digital art, or even a small share of a real-world asset.
Personally, I don't think crypto will replace everything. I think it will simply become another part of our financial system and the internet.
And maybe that is when we will know crypto has truly become mainstream, when people are using it without even thinking about it.
We might not wake up one morning and suddenly say, “Wow, crypto is everywhere!” It may happen slowly, while blockchain works quietly in the background. That is just my prediction, anyway.
