Plus: Shiba Inu Member Flags DarkSword Exploit, BlackRock ETHA Leads Ethereum ETF Inflows
Good Morning Lions,
Zcash is shutting the door on its old Sprout pool, and anyone who never migrated gets left behind. Put that next to the DarkSword iOS exploit going after wallet data and the theme is pretty simple.. self-custody comes with maintenance. Keeping your phone updated and moving coins off retired code are part of owning them. I think more chains will retire legacy code this way, and the pushback will depend on how loud the unmigrated holders get.
Zcash NU7 Cuts Off Sprout Pool
TL;DR: Zcash's NU7 upgrade disables version 4 transactions, which cuts off the 2016-era Sprout shielded pool. About 12,226 ZEC, an estimated $16 million, still sat in Sprout, according to Crypto Briefing.
Shiba Inu Member Flags DarkSword Exploit
TL;DR: A long-time Shiba Inu community member urged iPhone users to update iOS after Google's Threat Intelligence team reportedly detailed an exploit chain called DarkSword. The chain is linked to spyware that targets crypto wallet data.
BlackRock ETHA Leads Ethereum ETF Inflows
TL;DR: US spot Ethereum ETFs took in a net $53.02 million on November 4, per Crypto Briefing. It was their first positive day after about $514.8 million left the funds the week before, and BlackRock's ETHA drew most of the new money.
MARA Moves Bitcoin to Galaxy Digital
TL;DR: MARA Holdings transferred 1,650 BTC, worth about $132.8 million, to Galaxy Digital, Copper and other platforms, per Crypto Briefing. It is the miner's second institutional transfer in four weeks, and MARA hasn't said whether it plans to sell.
Thomas Chen Calls for Wallet Access
TL;DR: BNB Chain Chief Business Officer Thomas Chen said at TOKEN2049 Singapore that tokenized assets need wallet access to reach users. He described adoption as the "bottom of the first inning."
Standard Asset Company Plans Bitcoin Reserve
TL;DR: Abu Dhabi-based Standard Asset Company plans to use income from UAE hospitality and branded-residence properties to build a Bitcoin reserve. The company is targeting $1.5 billion over 10 years.
Modine Books Record Data Center Orders
TL;DR: Modine Manufacturing booked more than $1 billion in Data Centers orders in fiscal Q2 2027, a first for the company. It also raised its fiscal 2027 sales outlook to a range of $3.1 billion to $3.2 billion.
Still open on Zcash: does anyone push for a recovery path for the ZEC stranded in Sprout, or do developers treat the freeze as final? Whatever they decide becomes the template for every chain sitting on a dusty legacy pool, frens 🦁 — Khal
