LeoGlossary: Binance Smart Chain (BSC)
SplinterGlossary: Binance Smart Chain (BSC)
Ethereum has something called the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which facilitates developers to create decentralized applications (DApps), as well as deploy and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain.
EVM can be and was cloned and used on other blockchains. That's how a number of "EVM chains" now exist, which are highly compatible among themselves at the software level.
Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is an EVM chain, initially set up by Binance. There are enough indications to suggest it is still fully controlled by Binance.
As the transaction fees sky-rocketed on Ethereum, BSC established itself as the initial go-to alternative, with lower fees. Now there are other low(er) fees EVM chains too, but BSC kept its popularity.
Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and Splinterlands
There are DEC-BUSD and SPS-BNB liquidity pools on PancakeSwap, the largest application on BSC.
SPS node validators' smart contracts are on BSC.
SPS DAO's smart contracts will be on BSC.
As you can see, apart from Hive, where the game is running, Splinterlands probably has/will have the strongest ties with BSC.
Being an EVM chain, the advantage is those smart contracts can easily be ported to another EVM chain if the situation requires it.
