A programmable device that stores, retrieves, and processes data. It is designed to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations (computation) automatically.
Modern computers are digital and run operations known as programs.
A computer system is a nominally complete computer that includes
- hardware
- an operating system (main software)
- peripheral equipment
The Internet is powered by computers which are millions of devices connected together. These can include servers, personal computers, and smartphones. Other devices are having semiconductors incorporated as part of what is terms the Internet-of-Things (IoT).
