A plastic card similar to a credit card. This is tied to an account at a financial institution such as a bank or credit union. A debit card is utilized in the same manner as a credit card. The difference is no credit line is extended. A debit card draws directly on the money that is in the account. If the funds are not available, the transaction might not go through.
Debit cards are accepted anywhere Visa® (V) and Mastercard® (MA) are taken.
