A piece of data that is run through a hashing algorithm.

The data is compressed into alphanumeric string of text which are vital to blockchain immutability.

Hashing is a mechanism which can help to uncover those trying to alter or change the data.

Each block in a blockchain is joined to the previous one with a hash pointer
