Warm greetings friends. It's the weekend again, hope you are gearing up for the weekend vibes 😅?
You know what, I'm thrilled to report that I'm feeling much better today after yesterday's stomach upset. The miracle drink I took, and a restful sleep did wonders, and I woke up refreshed and rejuvenated.
This morning, I prepared a spicy and delicious yam pepper soup with local spices, which not only tasted amazing but also provided medicinal benefits.
At the office, I was able to get some work done - drafted some.advert scripts, media plan including making calls to clients and prospects. Some of the calls were successful, with two potential businesses expressing interest in working with us. Another thrilling news! 😂
Later in the day, I headed to the market to pick up some groceries and other essentials. But I was met with a scene of utter chaos. The roadside vendors, who have been a fixture in the areas - "Highlife and School Road axis", for as long as I can remember, were scrambling to save their wares as the Task force team and some armed security officials swooped in to enforce a ban on street trading.
News has it that the vendors had already been notified on many occasions, since the new government came into power to pack up and leave, but they refused to heed. Unfortunately, they were caught unawares today. The officials, determined to clear the area, began destroying tables, chairs, and even some of the vendors' goods.
The scene was one of pandemonium, with people rushing to safeguard their belongings and avoid confrontation with the authorities. Shoppers too were not left out as they also scsmpered for safety. The air was thick with tension and frustration as the vendors, many of whom rely on street trading to make a living, were forced to abandon their stalls.
The crackdown on street trading is part of a broader effort to restore order and cleanliness to the market area. However, for the vendors and their customers, it's a disruption to their daily lives and livelihoods.
Personally, I'm also affected by this change, as I often buy from these vendors when I'm short on time or prefer not to venture into the crowded market. Now that they've been forced to leave, I'll have to navigate the bustling market stalls, which I often dread doing, sometimes.
Unfortunately, the chaos was so intense that I couldn't even capture any photos of the scene. The atmosphere was frenzied and rowdy. I decided it was best to focus on my original mission - buying the groceries I needed. I quickly made my way to the relevant sections, picked up what I required, and left the market, eager to escape the mayhem.
On the way hope, I kept wondering what will become of these vendors after today.
