Good afternoon, my dearest #hive readers! Happy Saturday to everyone—I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend. It ’s your friend Manuel here, and I’m very excited to share a new digital illustration I finished a few hours ago. This time, I wanted to create a representation based on the game of my dear friends from the #holozing community, and I decided to choose the grass-type dragon (Verdarox), which is the second stage or evolution of the dragons of this type. I wanted to portray it in a super imposing way, standing atop a large rock, gazing out at the vast and enormous sky above, creating a subtle contrast between the blue and green tones that give this creature an even better essence. I hope you really like this idea, and down below I will share a bit of my creation process so you can appreciate it much better!
Muy buenas tardes mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras de #hive, feliz sábado para todos, espero que estén teniendo un excelente fin de semana. Por aquí los saluda su amigo Manuel, muy emocionado de compartirles una nueva ilustración digital que terminé hace algunas horas atrás. Esta vez quise realizar una representación sobre el juego de mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de #holozing, y decidí elegir al dragón de tipo hierba (Verdarox), el cual es la segunda etapa o evolución de los dragones de este tipo. Quise representarlo de forma súper imponente, parado en la cima de una gran roca, contemplando el amplio y enorme cielo sobre él, haciendo un leve contraste entre los tonos azules y verdes que le dieran una mejor esencia a esta criatura. ¡Espero que les guste mucho mi idea y aquí les compartiré un poco de su proceso de creación para que lo aprecien mejor!
PROCESS / PROCESO
For the concept and character design, I chose an imposing and commanding pose showing Verdarox perched majestically atop a large rock at the summit. I drew him featuring his characteristic scaled body in vibrant green tones, a contrasting bluish chest and belly, striking reddish horns and crests, sharp claws, and a steady gaze directed toward the horizon.
Para el concepto y diseño del personaje, elegí una pose imponente y dominante que muestra a Verdarox posado majestuosamente sobre una gran roca en la cumbre. Lo dibujé luciendo su característico cuerpo escamado en tonos verdes vibrantes, su pecho y vientre de un tono azulado contrastante, cuernos y crestas rojizas llamativas, afiladas garras y una mirada firme dirigida hacia el horizonte.
For details and rendering, I worked carefully on smoothing the scale gradients, body muscle volume, and contours using soft airbrush techniques. I detailed the metallic sheen on his reptilian skin, rendered the rocky textures of the stone beneath his paws, and polished the light and shadow contrasts to give him an imposing three-dimensional presence.
Para los detalles y el renderizado, trabajé cuidadosamente en suavizar los degradados de las escamas, la volumetría de su musculatura y los contornos corporales mediante la técnica de aerógrafo. Detallé el brillo metálico sobre su piel reptiliana, rendericé las texturas rocosas de la piedra bajo sus patas y pulí los contrastes de luz y sombra para otorgarle una presencia tridimensional imponente.
For the environmental lighting and atmosphere, I placed Verdarox outdoors under an immense, clear sky covered by soft clouds. A bright overhead light bathes the upper part of his body, generating intense golden and greenish highlights, achieving a harmonious contrast with the deep blue tones of the sky that enhance the majestic essence of this dragon.
Para la ambientación e iluminación de la escena, ubiqué a Verdarox al aire libre bajo un inmenso cielo despejado cubierto de nubes suaves. Una brillante luz cenital baña la parte superior de su cuerpo generando reflejos dorados y verdosos muy intensos, logrando un contraste armonioso con los tonos azules profundos del cielo que realzan la majestzosa esencia de este dragón.
