Hello Hive

I'm so delighted to share with us the progress we have made with raising our own birds so far. It is often said that you cannot give what you don't have, and because of the progress I have experienced with raising these broiler birds, I would like to share with us some of the secrets that have been helpful in keeping our birds healthy and lively while their growth has been massively progressive.

We haven't recorded any fatalities since we started raising these birds. We have collected about 7 bird samples for a start, some turkey and rabbits as well, into different sections of the cage here.
While purchasing the sample birds, I learned a few things about how to avoid all the fatalities and losses often encountered with raising poultry birds. On the day of collection, I was given some orientation about the birds, which has been very useful to keep them alive till today.

One of those important things is how to regulate their body temperature and keep it in check. Broiler birds do not appreciate extreme temperatures, especially hot weather. Even though we have made their cages constructed using zinc material rather than planks due to financial constraints, we often made sure that the cage does not get overheated. We have cardboard paper that is thick, which we often use as extra covering on the roof of their cage to prevent excess heat from penetrating and reaching the birds. Broiler birds die very easily when the temperature gets unbearable for them.

When the temperature is equally low, bird fatality can be equally experienced. Our birds were beaten by rain once when they were 3 weeks old. While we were quietly keeping them in a carton in their first 1-3 weeks within the house, they had slipped out without our knowledge and entered the rain. I almost wasn't sure they would survive after that rain got them wet, but after the experience I picked them up and kept them beside the fire for a good while. That solved the magic. They got warmed up after about 30 minutes; everything was fine as the cold from the rain dissipated from their bodies.
After that time, I have learned that you can keep them warm when they are cold, and vice versa; just ensure that you use a suitable approach.

Feeding.
I am sure that a few persons aren't aware that the method of feeding or approach used can equally cause death in poultry birds. There are different kinds of feeds being sold at the market, and sometimes these feeds differ according to the species of birds.
Alongside there is an appropriate measure of feed that is given to poultry birds for each stage of their lives' growth.
When birds are in their early stage, the measure we could feed them up to 3X with a calculated amount of feed, and when they are much older, like the ones you see here, we regulate their feeds and give them lesser amounts of it.

Overfeeding in birds makes them accumulate too much fat in their bodies. Excess fat doesn't allow poultry birds to have a longer life span; in fact, these days it kills the bird much faster than you can imagine.
When birds are getting older, you regulate their food so that they can eat just an appropriate amount per time to make them live longer, especially when you are not ready to harvest the birds for meat yet.
