Thetan Arena officially launched on the 27th of November and it has been going downhill ever since. This was one of the most hyped games of 2021 and I decided to jump in on day 1 and acquired two NFT characters to play the game.
The gameplay is extremely fun, one of the most engaging P2E games I've played. That was to be expected since this game is a bootleg version of the very famous Brawl Stars by Supercell.
Bad tokenomics

Not very soon after the team did a big mistake by launching a promotion where you could buy character chests with a big discount paying with BUSD instead of the native coin THC. Obviously, this was just a quick money grab from the developers.
Flooding the game with new cheaper characters bought with outside currency quickly accelerated the printing of THC while it burned non.
The result of this brilliant idea is quite obvious by looking at the THC price graph.
Broken Matchmaking
Somehow with 10 Million active players (or so they claim), they still had to make some players play with and against bots. It is nearly impossible to win games when you're playing on a team with a bot versus a full players team.
To fix this the developers decided to close all playing modes and have a rotating system to make sure there's no need to include bots. Great thinking the only issue is that they broke the match-making mechanics.
Low-ranking players with common heroes are now able to play versus teams of 4 legendary heroes on the top of the leader boards. Obviously, the Gold+ teams completely stomp the recruit (Rank prior to bronze) players.
Incompetent devolopers

Has a way to fix the oversupply of THC Thetan arena allocated $13 Million to a buyback program. Players were allowed to join and sell their THC at a premium price and be paid in their other token THG which has a finite supply.
There was only one little issue, the smart contract didn't work for thousands of players, Instead of owning up to their mistake, the developers blamed the Binance smart chain.
After fixing the issue and postponing the end date the buyback didn't even reach 30% of the intended amount has most players got frustrated and decided to just dump the THC on the market.
Future of Thetan Arena
Fortunately, all of these problems can be fixed and I'm being a little harsh on a game that has been around for less than 2 months. The developers might be able to turn this game around and make a sustainable and lasting game.
I've lost confidence in the team and I will be done farming my last character in 3 days, after that I'm going to dump my remaining tokens. Like me, there are a lot of investors and players that got burned and will never invest in the game again.
