What Simple Pleasures Bring You Joy?

I believe that as we get older, our tastes, our interests and even our needs change, not only because we have achieved many of those things, but also because we change and what made us happy before, does not make us happy now. Likewise, I believe that as we mature we give true value to the things we live, have and feel. Too much dust on our feet to follow the footsteps of others and too much crossed seas to believe in siren songs.

That is why maybe what I am happy about today, will not be my happiness in 10 years. So I can say that today, February 5, 2025, when I am 51 years old, I am happy with life:

Being with my family, talking to them, hearing from them.

Going out with my friends, sharing, listening to them, having fun with them.

I like to travel, whether by road, sea or air.

I am happy to know new places, to breathe new air.

I like going to the movies (although I haven't been going for a long time). I like to watch a good movie, alone or accompanied, of any genre, except horror movies.

It's a relief for me to take off my bra as soon as I get home. Women will understand me, but it's a feeling of freedom and liberation when I take it off!

I like to have an ice cold beer (or beers), at any time, after a long day of work or at noon, when the heat is raging.

After a day's work, going over the things I did and knowing that everything is fine, that everything went well, makes me sleep like a baby.

I love to eat cheeses, sausages and olives (that combination could be my food for life).

Listening to someone talk who knows what they are talking about. I admire knowledgeable people who have a lot to say and teach me.

I love reading a good book, the kind where you say: one more chapter and then I fall asleep. And the early morning surprises you with the book still in your hands.

I like to write by hand, to write down words on little pieces of paper. Most of the stories I write were seeds, ideas, on loose papers.

It makes me very happy to listen to music. Music has been my lifeline in the face of sadness. I can do anything, mop the house, cook, ride public transportation, listening to music.

The smell of the wet earth from the rain.
I like the rain, getting wet in it, if possible.

A delicious masculine fragrance makes me sigh. I think tons of endorphins is released in me, especially when the fragrances have woody and spicy touches.

The smell of coffee. I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee, its bitter taste, the whole ritual of life around a cup of coffee. I enjoy it alone or with company.

The smell of freshly baked bread makes me salivate. The warm bread with the melted butter and crispy crust makes me feel like I'm in paradise.

I love the smell of coconut. What's more, I'm obsessed with that smell. From my body creams, lipsticks, shampoo, they smell like coconut. In short: I smell like coconut.

I enjoy walking barefoot around the house, on the grass, on the sand of the beach.

A perfect day: Go to the beach, sit and read a book, get a tan and watch the sunset.

I like to wear a dress, this garment gives me a feeling of freshness, femininity and security, as if it were part of my essence.

I like to go shopping, either to the supermarket or to a store. Seeing the prices of things, even if I don't buy them in the end. Hahahaha

I like to give gifts: I like to see people's faces when I surprise them with a gift.

I like to smile and make others smile.

I enjoy really hugging people I appreciate. Not a social hug, which serves as a greeting. No. But a long, tight hug that tells the other person: I am here, with you.

I love to lie on the floor

I love to sleep
I love to dance

I love to be quiet

I am happy to do nothing.
I have belatedly discovered the pleasure of doing nothing: lying on the floor, closing my eyes, breathing, disconnecting.
