Yesterday, we took the opportunity to visit Cangrejo Azul—one of the most beautiful and newest tourist complexes in Cumaná, and a place where you can have a truly incredible day. Located on Avenida Universidad at San Luis Beach, the complex has been very popular ever since it opened.

This venue opened on November 22, 2024, as part of the anniversary celebrations of the city of Cumaná. It was created to boost tourism, the economy, and local entrepreneurship.

Ayer aprovechamos para visitar Cangrejo Azul, uno de los complejos turísticos más nuevos y hermosos de Cumaná, y un lugar donde se puede pasar un día verdaderamente increíble. Situado en la Avenida Universidad, en la playa de San Luis, el complejo ha gozado de gran popularidad desde su inauguración.

Este espacio abrió sus puertas el 22 de noviembre de 2024, como parte de las celebraciones del aniversario de la ciudad de Cumaná. Fue creado para impulsar el turismo, la economía y el emprendimiento local.

This place is truly pleasant and safe, as it is located right next to Civil Protection. Even though it is a busy spot, you will always find parking. Here, you can not only enjoy delicious Asian cuisine and your favorite drinks but also simply sit on the beach to sunbathe, go for a swim, and watch the best sunsets.

Este lugar es realmente agradable y seguro, ya que se encuentra justo al lado de Protección Civil. Aunque es una zona con mucha actividad, siempre encontrarás estacionamiento. Aquí no solo podrás disfrutar de una deliciosa gastronomía oriental y de tus bebidas favoritas, sino también simplemente sentarte en la playa a tomar el sol, nadar y contemplar los mejores atardeceres.

The Cangrejo Azul Tourist Complex features a number of food stalls with their own tables and chairs. It also offers various churuatas (thatched-roof shelters) or canopies facing the sea that are available for rent. Additionally, there is a small children's playground, as well as restrooms and showers in excellent condition.

El Complejo Turístico Cangrejo Azul cuenta con varios puestos de comida que disponen de sus propias mesas y sillas. También ofrece diversas churuatas (estructuras con techo de paja) o cobertizos frente al mar disponibles para alquilar. Asimismo, dispone de una pequeña zona de juegos infantiles, así como de baños y duchas en excelentes condiciones.

We arrived early, so we found available tables and seats. We sat down, and since the plan was to eat and drink, we ordered fish and cheese empanadas; we also ordered a bucket of beers—a deal offering 15 beers for $13.

Llegamos temprano, así que encontramos mesas y asientos disponibles. Nos sentamos y, como el plan era comer y beber, pedimos empanadas de pescado y de queso; también pedimos un cubo de cervezas, una promoción que ofrecía 15 cervezas por 13 dólares.

As we sat there, we watched more and more people arrive. Street vendors also passed by, offering their wares. Among those selling food were vendors offering asopados and empanadas, as well as seasoned mangoes—a quintessentially Venezuelan snack. Of course, there was no shortage of ice cream vendors, sunglasses sellers, and those selling beach-style costume jewelry.

Mientras estábamos allí sentados, veíamos llegar a cada vez más gente. También pasaban vendedores ambulantes ofreciendo sus productos. Entre quienes vendían comida había vendedores de asopados y empanadas, así como de mangos aliñados: un tentempié por excelencia de Venezuela. Por supuesto, no faltaban los vendedores de helados, de gafas de sol y de bisutería de estilo playero.

The day unfolded amidst music and conversation. Before we knew it, evening was setting in, and—like anyone having a great time—we didn't want to leave. Like us, hundreds of people remained at the resort, putting off the moment of departure.

El día transcurrió entre música y conversación. Sin darnos cuenta, cayó la tarde y —como cualquiera que lo está pasando bien— no queríamos marcharnos. Al igual que nosotros, cientos de personas permanecieron en el complejo turístico, postergando el momento de la partida.

Before we knew it, night had fallen, and we decided to stay a little longer. El Cangrejo Azul is a pleasant spot at night, too. People kept arriving at that hour—not necessarily to swim, but to enjoy the food or have a drink or a beer. The music was playing, creating a festive atmosphere. We saw uniformed personnel passing by every so often to ensure order was maintained. Personally, that made me feel very safe, despite the late hour.

Sin darnos cuenta, cayó la noche y decidimos quedarnos un poco más. El Cangrejo Azul es un lugar agradable también por la noche. A esa hora seguía llegando gente, no necesariamente para nadar, sino para disfrutar de la comida o tomarse una copa o una cerveza. Sonaba música, creando un ambiente festivo. Veíamos pasar al personal uniformado de vez en cuando para asegurarse de que se mantuviera el orden. Personalmente, eso me hizo sentir muy segura, a pesar de lo avanzado de la hora.

It was 9 p.m. when we decided to leave. We had no trouble getting out of the parking lot, even though there were many cars parked there. Although we were tired, we were happy to have spent such a pleasant and unique day. I won't deny that I went there with some apprehension, as we had heard that thefts and fights sometimes occur. Yesterday, nothing of the sort happened. That is why, based on my experience, I say that the Cangrejo Azul resort is a family-friendly place worth visiting. I know you’ll have a great time, just as I did.

Eran las 9 de la noche cuando decidimos marcharnos. No tuvimos problemas para salir del estacionamiento, a pesar de que había muchos vehículos aparcados allí. Aunque estábamos cansados, nos alegraba haber pasado un día tan agradable y único. No niego que fui con cierto recelo, ya que habíamos oído decir que a veces se producen robos y peleas. Ayer no ocurrió nada por el estilo. Por eso, basándome en mi experiencia, digo que el complejo Cangrejo Azul es un lugar familiar que vale la pena visitar. Sé que lo pasarás muy bien, tal como yo lo hice.
