Working Ad infinitum..
My heart always breaks whenever I see older people working to make money. People who should be resting enjoying the fruit of their labours. It is a bad thing for one to work in old age, especially work that is strenuous and energy-demanding. I was in the market to get some stuff for food when I saw a woman above sixty years of age hawking sachet water. My heart bled and so many thoughts ran through my mind. At that age, the woman should have been at home resting and taking care of her grandchildren and not going around making money.
There's time for everything under the sun. And everything is moral at the right time. Anything done outside the right time is immoral and a negation of the order. Understand the sun, there's time for one to work and there is time for one to surcease from work. There's a time to play and there's a time to be serious with work. Everything has a time and purpose. If one uses the time he is supposed to work and play, such a person will suffer the repercussions of such action, it might not be immediate but certainly, it will happen.
Humans were not meant to work ad infinitum. There's a time frame meant for people to work. At that time, there's a high probability of being productive because you're full of strength and resilience. At this point in life, you will be able to meet with the risk involved in the work that you do and at the same time you won't feel ashamed. Everyone has productive years and also retiring years. Mostly at 65 years of age, people should retire and enjoy the fruits of their toiling. However, at this age, we see a lot of people still toiling day and night looking for greener pastures. This is a negation of the natural social order.
The truth is any work done in old age cannot be done effectively and cannot meet up with the pressure that comes with the work as well as the competition posed by people of the younger age. Elderly people should understand that their roles ought to be to advise and not to compete, especially with younger people.
Young people should start to plan their lives so that they won't work ad infinitum and probably die in the work. Planning involves taking advantage of the money and doing the right things. Sowing the right seed that will germinate in due course. It's not the time to play around and waste resources. Every resource at your disposal is meant to be used prudently. Everything boils down to planning and if you fail to plan, you're planning to fail.
As humans grow older, they begin to minify shrink in everything. Having this understanding should make a wise person make the right decision towards the future. Things will never remain the same. At old age, people should do less tasking works if they should do any. However, plan never to work till you die, but plan to enjoy till you die.
