In the city we have a park and a square in homage to Ana Maria Campos, a heroine of my country at the time of independence specifically when Venezuela was still Gran Colombia, I was in her square which is in full view of everyone in a busy avenue called El Milagro and very close to the Bibioteca del Estado.
Ana Maria was part of one of the distinguished families of the region, she was in favor of equality and freedom, she was active in resistance campaigns, she was arrested for fighting against the Spanish yoke that was headed by Tomas Morales in his attempt to overthrow since he wanted to take over Maracaibo, she was tortured during her captivity and after she was released she participated in the Naval Battle of the Lake, which ensured the independence of Maracaibo and although she died young her legacy is part of history.
In the square at the base of his monument there is a writing by Udón Perez that reflects a phrase that Campos repeated to Morales and reads:
"-O MONDA O CAPITULA" THE PHRASE WAS THAT ONE DAY AGAINST THE FEROZ CANARIO LA CAMPOS FULMINO. THAT FIERY PHRASE WHAT A PROPHECY OF THE BLOODTHIRSTY DESPOTIC THE WRATHS AWAKENED.

In her monument she is seen pointing and barefoot while she is mounted on a horse that is on a stone, accompanied by a man behind who seems to be hitting her with an object in his hand, which is quite sad what this warrior had to go through.
And although it is a rather small square, it has a great story to tell and never to forget, I thought it was quite interesting to share it with all of you.

En la plaza en la base de su monumento se encuentra un escrito de Udón Perez que refleja una frase que Campos le repetía a Morales y dice así:
"-O MONDA O CAPITULA" LA FRASE FUE QUE UN DÍA CONTRA EL FEROZ CANARIO LA CAMPOS FULMINO. AQUELLA FRASE ARDIENTE CUÁL UNA PROFECÍA DEL SANGUINARIO DESPOTA LAS IRAS DESPERTO.
-¿ES CIERTO QUE TU ERES...(LA CAMPOS SONREÍA) -¿ES CIERTO QUE TU ERES LA DE ESA FRASE?-YO PERDONARE TU AUDACIA TU CRIMINAL PORFIA. SI TE RETRACTAS.-'NUNCA!-NO TE RETRACTAS?-¡NO!...
SOBRE IRRISORIO ASNO DESNUDO AL SOL, EL TALLE, LA LLEVAN LOS ESBIRROS POR UNA Y OTRA CALLE:
LA LLEVAN A LA INFAMIA.QUIÉN SABE A MORIR.
EN TANTO OUE EL VERDUGO LA AFRENTA Y LA VAPULA,
LA CAMPOS DICE A VOCES:- O MONDA O CAPITULA-"... AQUELLA FRASE HEROICA TRASCIENDE AL PORVENIR"
En su monumento se le ve señalando y descalza mientras está montada en un caballo que se encuentra sobre una piedra, acompañada con un hombre detrás qué parece ser le esta golpeando con algún objeto que lleva en su mano, lo cuál es bastante triste lo que tuvo que pasar esta guerrera.
Y aunque es un plaza bastante pequeña, tiene una gran historia que contar y para nunca olvidar, me pareció bastante interesante poder compartirla con todos ustedes.
