So it was a busy day for me, and feeling a bit sick, I had to go to work before going out to do a medical check-up. Also, knowing that I had a friend's birthday to moderate in the evening before attending music rehearsal.
So I arrived home, tired, exhausted, and feeling sick, I needed to rest, take drugs, before managing to go for my friend's event. Just as I was about resting, a call came in, it was a professor that I had a work to do with. "Nsisong, wia are you?" I knew if I told him that I was in Uyo, he would ask me to come to the office. My spirit, body, and soul were not ready to go there because I knew I would not come back in time to meet up with the event I was to anchor. So I told him I was at Eket. He asked, "When are you coming to pick this work?" "I should be in Uyo by tomorrow, Prof," I responded. "It's okay, no problem." We hung up the call. I thought it was over, didn't know I was preparing a way for another problem.
On my way to the first event, a call from a strange number came in. "Hello, am I onto Nsi?" I said yes. "Prof asked me to give you a parcel so that when you are coming to Uyo, you deliver it for him," he said. Choi, I don enter one chance, I said to myself. Immediately, I pretended as if the network was bad. "I can't hear you sir," I hailed. He repeated. "Okay sir, I just left Eket now, but I am not sure if I am coming back to take it to Uyo." "So how are we going to do now?" he asked. "Let me call you back sir," I responded.
How am I going to save myself from these lies now and my reputation? A thought came in , ask him to waybill it tomorrow morning, then you pick it up and deliver. That was a nice idea, but I would need to pay for the waybill. And that was how I got to pay for the waybill that I never planned, but because of one lie, I had to pay. So I paid for my lie, not even the waybill.
