As the title suggests, my reflection comes from the question: "Is it better to be an employee, an entrepreneur or a freelancer?".
The answer is: "It depends!"
I was reading an article on this topic that really gave me a lot of ideas.
We are certainly talking about something that is very subjective, it must be said that all options have pros and cons.
If you think about it carefully, the cons are those that could tip the scales to one side rather than the other.
Usually we think that the thing to give more weight to are the pros, but this is also debatable.
Here too, it depends!
I found myself playing the role of employee but also that of entrepreneur and also that of freelancer.
Surely as a poker player I was not registered with any register but, if you think about it, the position can be compared to that of freelancer even if, of course, it has its own distinctions to keep in mind.
However, I do not want to talk about poker or specific jobs, today we will keep it generic.
I have had some friends who went from being employees to being entrepreneurs and, in the early stages, they lived it well, no longer having the need to find new clients, to make ends meet and, in general, to have a series of burdensome responsibilities and a working life of uncertainty on their shoulders.
After some time, however, a malaise began to creep in on them due to the fact that they suffered from the "lack of freedom" that an entrepreneur and a freelancer somehow have.
I know of cases that developed the other way around and in which the employee became an entrepreneur and then, overwhelmed by a thousand responsibilities and uncertainty, found himself regretting the "permanent job".
For the freelancer, but also for the entrepreneur, the only great advantage is that of choice; he can choose whether he likes a client or not and in general he can decide who to work with, he can manage his time.
Let's say that in exchange for maximum freedom he has a great weight in responsibilities and many uncertainties.
For the employee, however, in the face of greater certainties and less responsibility, there is the coexistence with the sword of Damocles of obligations and schedules and perhaps also with the situation in which the work environment cannot be changed and one finds oneself living in unhappy situations but which, in any case, one must like; among other things, practically always, it is not up to the employee to decide where to go and the working direction to take.
This is work but, ultimately, so is life; you can't have everything, every choice involves sacrifices and advantages!
This is the reason why this choice is very subjective and, above all, this is the reason why before making it it is necessary to make a whole series of evaluations and above all to come to terms with ourselves, with our needs, with our fears and with our goals in life.
There is a quote by Nelson Mandela that is, in this specific question, very useful and indicative and it says:
"It is what we get from what we have, not what is given to us that separates one person from another."
There are situations that can make us believe we are free but they are situations that we do not know how to manage so the freedom we think we have is instead a prison and the chains of this cell are called "stress".
Of course with this last thought of mine I do not want to say that I am inclined towards dependent work and indeed, if you want to know my opinion, I am in favour of freelance work and in any case for entrepreneurship.
I have always been able to manage stress and indeed, often, it has led me to perform better, among other things the situation of uncertainty has never scared me or created concern; however, this is my personal choice that comes from my assessments and also from my situation.
After all, I am someone who loves to change often and perhaps this is a determining factor in my choice, as are some certainties and some fixed points that give me the peace of mind of not letting my family lack anything.
Add to this the fact that, personally, I have no problem giving up something or depriving myself of it and, in fact, I experience it as a situation that strengthens my character and my choice may appear clearer to you.
Obviously it has its own logic but, in the end, being personal and subjective, for others it is not logical and, in fact, it seems something totally illogical.
However, I do not want to go on too long also because I prefer to leave the word to You; tell me, what do you think of the situation I described?

Come da titolo, la mia riflessione nasce dalla domanda: "È meglio essere dipendente, imprenditore o libero professionista?".
La risposta è:"Dipende!"
Leggevo un articolo su questo argomento che mi ha offerto davvero tanti spunti.
Sicuramente stiamo parlando di qualcosa che è molto soggettivo, c'è da dire che tutte le opzioni hanno dei pro e dei contro.
A ben pensare i contro sono quelli che potrebbero far pendere l'ago della bilancia da una parte piuttosto che dall'altra.
Di solito si pensa che la cosa alla quale dare maggior peso sono i pro, anche questo però è opinabile.
Anche qui, dipende!
Io mi sono ritrovato a ricoprire il ruolo di dipendente ma anche quello di imprenditore e anche quello di libero professionista.
Sicuramente come giocatore di poker non ero iscritto a nessun albo però, se ci pensi bene, la posizione si può accostare a quella di libero professionista anche se, naturalmente, ha i suoi distinguo da tener presente.
Non voglio però parlare di poker o comunque di lavori specifici, oggi ci manteniamo sul generico.
Ho avuto alcuni amici che sono passati dall'esser imprenditori all'essere dipendenti e, nei primi periodi hanno vissuto bene la cosa non avendo più la necessità di trovare nuovi clienti, di far quadrare i conti e, in generale di avere sulle spalle una serie di gravose responsabilità e una vita lavorativa di incertezze.
Dopo qualche tempo però in loro si è cominciato a insinuare un malessere dovuto al fatto che soffrissero della "mancanza di libertà" che, un imprenditore e un libero professionista, in qualche modo hanno.
Conosco di casi che si sono sviluppati al contrario e in cui il dipendente è diventato imprenditore e poi travolto dalle mille responsabilità e dall'incertezza si è trovato a rimpiangere il "posto fisso".
Per il libero professionista, ma anche per l'imprenditore, l'unico grande vantaggio è quello della scelta; può scegliere se un cliente gli piace o meno e in generale può decidere con chi lavorare, può gestire il proprio tempo.
Diciamo che in cambio della massima libertà ha un grande peso in responsabilità e tante incertezze.
Per il dipendente invece, a fronte di maggiori certezze e minore responsabilità, c'è la convivenza con la spada di Damocle degli obblighi e degli orari e magari anche con la situazione in cui l'ambiente lavorativo non può essere modificato e si trova a vivere situazioni non felici ma che, comunque, deve farsi piacere; tra l'altro, praticamente sempre, non sta al dipendente decidere dove andare e la direzione lavorativa da prendere.
Questo è il lavoro ma, in fondo, così è anche la vita; non si può avere tutto, ogni scelta comporta rinunce e vantaggi!
Questo è il motivo per cui questa scelta è molto soggettiva e, soprattutto, questo è il motivo per cui prima di prenderla è necessario fare tutta una serie di valutazioni e soprattutto fare i conti con noi stessi, con le nostre necessità, con le nostre paure e con i nostri obiettivi nella vita.
C'è una frase di Nelson Mandela che è, in questo interrogativo specifico, molto utile e indicativa e recita:
"È ciò che ricaviamo da ciò che abbiamo, non ciò che ci viene dato che separa una persona dall'altra."
Ci sono situazioni che ci possono illudere di essere liberi ma sono situazioni che però non sappiamo gestire quindi la libertà che pensiamo di avere è invece una prigione e, le catene di questa cella, si chiamano "stress".
Naturalmente con questo mio ultimo pensiero non voglio dire che propendo per il lavoro dipendente e anzi, se vuoi sapere la mia, sono per la libera professione e comunque per l'imprenditoria.
Ho sempre saputo gestire lo stress e anzi, spesse volte, mi ha portato a rendere di più, tra l'altro la situazione di incertezza non mi ha mai spaventato ne creato preoccupazione; questa però è la mia personale scelta che nasce da mie valutazioni e anche dalla mia situazione.
In fondo sono uno che ama cambiare spesso e forse questo è determinante nella mia scelta, così come lo sono alcune certezze e alcuni punti fermi che mi regalano la tranquillità di non far mancare nulla alla mia famiglia.
Mettici in mezzo che, personalmente, non ho alcun problema a rinunciare a qualcosa o a privarmene e anzi, la vivo come una situazione che mi tempra nel carattere e la mia scelta ti potrà apparire più chiara.
Ovvio che ha una sua logica ma che in fondo, essendo personale e soggettiva, per altri logica non è e anzi sembra qualcosa di totalmente illogico.
Comunque, non voglio dilungarmi troppo anche perché preferisco lasciare a Te la parola; dimmi, cosa ne pensi della situazione da me descritta?
