For us to understand the image of God we should know that human being was created by God in his own image and likeness. This image is not refering to out body appearance but about the qualities we possess within us like how we think, select things, love, create, and live peacefully. It means we were made to imitate God’s character here on earth, to care for creation, and to live in a way that reflects His goodness. This is what separates humans from every other creature we carry a part of God’s essence within us.
Genesis 1:26–27 Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
His image now gives everyone a deep sense of value and love. It tells us that all human lives are important, regardless of status, background, or how we look we now treat each other with respect because the image of God lives in them. Even though sin have affected the image of God in human, it has not been destroyed. It can be restored and renewed by living according to God’s will and truth. So, the image of God is not just something we were given it’s something we are meant to grow into daily.
