Acknowledging a tip to overcoming anxiety

Anxiety is a common and normal emotion that can affect anyone, regardless of their background or qualifications. It's known to be a feeling of worry,fear, depression e.t.c that can be overwhelming and interfere with daily life and happiness.

Anxiety is a thief of joy, peace, happiness and keeps us in any unrecognized chains, and bounds us from accessing growth, success, and exploring the beauty of life. Anxiety is caused by many factors; but disputing its causes and focusing on the possible ways to manage and control it, thus I was able to manage it and overcome it, through the following ways;

  1. Recognize the cause, and accept it; Acknowledging being anxious is not proof that we are claiming it, rather it's proof that we have to work on it, control it and overcome it, thus accepting it as a normal part of our emotional experience, helps us overcome it. While suppressing or denying it can make it worse I believe.

  2. Being in charge of our thoughts; We have full control of what we think, embracing negative thoughts always have a way of bringing down your emotions, birthing fear, depression as well as anxiety. Having negative thoughts and challenging them if they're really true, with that we'll be able to overcome them and we have to replace negative thoughts with more balanced and realistic ones which will help build a more positive and realistic one.

  3. Practicing relaxation: This aspect may somehow be difficult, because the mind is active with so many thoughts, but trying to relax in the midst of anxiety helps our mental health to be calm, taking a deep breath, also meditation helps as well to calm our mind and body.

  4. Try to take a break and practice self-care: Self-care and taking a break is an important factor in overcoming anxiety, through engaging in activities that bring you joy, peace, happiness e.t.c helps you stay relaxed, such as reading, listening to music, hanging out with friends or family, reduces anxiety.

  5. Building self-esteem: Often people
    anxiety is as a result of low self-esteem. This makes them feel worthless, scared, isolated, guilty anxious, and even depressed. Low self-esteem also causes anxiety. Practicing self love, reading, meditation, and affirming positive words help in overcoming it.

Though there are other ways of coping with anxiety, such as seeking counsel, practicing mindfulness etc help one cope with anxiety. Anxiety is common in our society, though it's treatable. Thus, acknowledging our anxiety, practicing self love, also seeking help and counsel, with that we can learn to manage our anxiety and improve on the quality of our life.

We ought to understand that anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength, we don't have to control our thoughts, we just have to stop letting them control us. Also we should not let our fears choose our path because we're stronger than we seem, braver than we believe, and smarter than we think.
