Navigating the Learning Curves on Hive_20240126_074210_0000.png

The excitement on my face knowing that I would be clocking 3 years in March keeps me grinning all the time when I log in to Hive to engage for the day. So far, I have spent huge moments on this blockchain and have gotten hangs on some things that were more like a challenge to me. You know how challenging it would be when you are just new on the blockchain, that was it for me then. I was once a newbie like those who are just starting and it took me a while to understand a lot of things; in fact, I am still learning and getting to understand some other things today because Hive is a vast place that needs you to take your time exploring and getting to know how things work.

I could remember how it took me longer than expected to understand how to use tags correctly on posts. At that time, when I make a post, I will have to go through other posts in the community I would be posting into and check the tags they used before I add mine and publish. As of then, I was always copying the exact way others use tags without understanding that there are common tags one can use aside from using one that relates to your content. It took me time to know that tags like proofofbrain, neoxian, vyb and others are common tags to be used on posts while adding others you want to add.

After months of making posts on Hive, I started understanding how to make use of tags correctly. I introduced my sister to Hive which she has been trying to be active. Every time she wanted to make a post, she would come to me for the right tags to use of which I don't get surprised because I was once in her shoes before. I know with time, she will get to understand and start using tags correctly.

Another thing that took me time to understand was how to earn Hive Engine tokens aside from the normal Hive and HBD tokens on posts. After three months of being on this blockchain, I was just walking my way through the wallet section through Peakd when I accidentally clicked the Hive Engine Wallet area. I saw some tokens of which I didn't quite understand how they got there. I was baffled when I saw POB tokens worth $21. At first, I thought it wouldn't be withdrawn, not until I went to ask some questions from @kenechukwu97 how it got there and asked if it could be withdrawn. He took his time to explain to me how to withdraw and also to keep earning those tokens using their tags.

I was so happy that day and from then on, I learnt that using Pob or proofofbrain as tag on posts could earn one the token. After a while also, I learnt of other tokens to use to earn from too and ever since that day, I never missed using the common tags on my posts to earn more.

Another interesting thing I got to understand lately is the HIVE SBI which is known as "Hive Staked Based Income", also known as HBI. I noticed I do get upvotes once in a while from @sbi4 but didn't understand how. Late last year, I got to receive some HBI from @dreemsteem for a comment I made as a dreemer, but when I checked my Hive Engine Wallet, I couldn't find it. I didn't bother to ask about it until we had our treasure hunt on Discord in December and the token was among the prizes I won. I remembered the one that was sent to me, asked questions about it and I got an idea what it meant from her.

I was told that the more HBI one has would determine the votes to receive from sbi4 and that can be checked through this website: https://www.hivesbi.com. I had thought it was a useless token until I got to know what it meant and its benefits on posts. Well, as Dreemsteem said, it isn't a token but like one owning a share in a whale account. 1 HBI equals 1 Hive.

Presently, I have 35 units which is the same as 35 HBI. The more Hbi you get, the higher the votes on your post. If you want to buy HBI, you need to send 1 Hive to @steembasicincome and you will be sent 1 unit into your account on their website.

Another thing I learnt about it is that one can grow their account with lots of HBI when you buy for someone. Let's say, you buy 10 HBI for someone, you will get 10 HBI back while the other person gets 10. Can you see that Hive gives back what you give it? This is what makes this blockchain amazing as we keep learning every day. We cannot explore all in a day but showing up on the platform daily helps you stay updated on what is happening and you keep learning to expand your knowledge of how the blockchain works. Taking hour time and with patience is the key here as Rome wasn't built in a day.
