As humans, we have several beliefs which can be traced to our backgrounds, and the societies we found ourselves. Taking my tribe as an example, we have several beliefs on different mystical things, some of which I see as unnecessary, but then they hold so much value, especially to the forefathers, unlike this GenZ generation where lots of values had been lost in our culture. Aside from cultural beliefs, there are other facts of life we tend to believe due to experiences and our ways of life.

As a Christian, there was a time when I believed crying got to God makes prayers answer speedily until I listened to one of the pastors that shared their clips on socials in respect of pastor Femi Lazarus that God cannot be robbed or manipulated to answer one's prayers quickly no matter how much one cries. If the heart is not right then the tears are just a waste. It's appropriate to get emotional sometimes when one pray but one shouldn't have it in mind that God will be moved with tears. When I got the understanding of this, it changed my point of view entirely and I result to just being right at heart than crying profusely for prayers to be answered.
In a normal sense, it is believed that when you do good by someone , they are expected to return the good deed but reverse is the case in this present generation. One good turn doesn't deserve another anymore, people are now doing things for their personal interest not caring what others felt. Return of good deeds is what I believed so much in because I grew up with lessons that it's good to return good deeds. Any favor I received from people, I always try my possible best to return the favor but then a scenario happened that changed my mind about this particular belief.
Last year, my parents rendered a favor to a church member who turned her back against them immediately she received the favor. Some said she was manipulated into doing that while I believed strongly that even if she was manipulated, it had to do with the evil thoughts she had in her heart herself. Instead of paying my parents back in the good coins that was expected, she started badmouthing them saying all sorts of things that are not true. In the light of this, my then belief that good should be rewarded with good vanished away, I now see that in this present generation, good is being paid with evil. People nowadays don't feel remorseful when they do something bad, they see it as normal ways of life inasmuch as they have their way. What others feel does not count and that is not do right. This scenario that happened with my parents changed my mind about going out of one's way to make sure others feel good. Sacrificing so much for someone who doesn't appreciate one is a bad business to venture into. Going extra miles to put a smile on someone's face and yet one's labour isn't appreciated is not worth it.
Thanks for your time and your comments will be appreciated.
