Universal Music Group (UMG) and BandLab Technologies, parent company of social music creation platform BandLab, are teaming up for a first-of-its-kind strategic AI partnership.
BandLab is a leading social music creation platform with over 60 million registered users.You can record, edit and remix your music by entering the BandLab app's multi-track Studio, an intuitive Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Additionally, BandLab has tools like AI music generator SongStarter, audio separation tool Splitter, and AutoPitch for handy pitch correction and built-in vocal effects.
Universal Music Group said it is partnering with BandLab Technologies to help protect the rights of artists and songwriters in the face of the growing use of artificial intelligence. Briefly, the purpose of this initiative is to ensure that artificial intelligence technology serves the creator community effectively and ethically.
Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group says of the partnership;

Universal Music's digital chief Michael Nash says of the partnership;

Also, BandLab Technologies had recently hired AI music expert Drew Silverstein (the Co-founder and former CEO of AI-driven music platform Amper Music) as Senior Advisor, AI, Innovation, and Strategy. In addition, Universal Music Group had established a partnership with AI company Endel in May 2023, and in August 2023, it had made an agreement with YouTube regarding the AI Music Incubator.

Frankly, I believe that such initiatives will benefit the music industry, especially artists and songwriters, which is why I love seeing such initiatives. Also, I think it is very positive that music companies are preparing for AI.
