English version

When I visit a beach I’ve never been to before, I enjoy exploring all the surrounding areas—it’s a way to discover new places and get to know the nooks and crannies of this land. That’s why, when I arrived at Quetepe Beach, I wanted to take a drive along the main highway, Troncal 9, to see the scenery from different angles and get a sense of where I was.

Cerro Quetepe is impressive—a rock formation that remains massive despite the passage of time. It’s located right next to the highway and can also be seen in the distance from virtually anywhere. I can’t help but compare it to Hill Sugar Loaf; the difference is that the one in Cumana has large deforested areas with numerous buildings on its slopes.

The gardens in Quetepe are also quite striking; there’s a wide variety, including ornamental plants I’d never seen before, as well as xerophytic vegetation and different types of palms. Without a doubt, they’re the perfect setting for studying the flora of this area, which has changed significantly over the past two decades, evolving from a beach resort into a well-established community with many homes and businesses in the surrounding area.

I enjoy walking around the area so I can have landmarks to reference during road trips. From a bus window, it’s often difficult to pinpoint your location because looking out at the beach is definitely different from looking at the mountains, and the route there is often different from the route back.

Pictures are often interesting because they’re not just for admiring but also for remembering. Quetepe is more than just a beach; it’s a place that radiates peace, offering a variety of settings to enjoy. Personally, I walked along the side of the road and returned through the mangrove area; the experience was pleasant on both sides.
