My Typical Work Day

After the late night production deployment last night it was back to the Seattle office for me this morning. I dropped off our daughter at her international baccalaureate middle school and drove to park about a mile away from the train station.

As you can see the fall is in full swing in Seattle area already. After a brisk thirty minute walk to the train station I boarded the train to Seattle. It was quite full today with no places to sit at all.

After a forty minute train ride I have arrived to Seattle. There I did another ten minute walk to my building and walked up the stairs to the sixth floor hooked up my computer to power and a screen that didn't work as usual and jumped on a thirty minute Microsoft Teams call.

After that I worked with GitHub Copilot to upgrade our Windows 2022 Advanced Datacenter containers to Windows 2025 containers. My Artificial intelligence agent modified our solution files for Windows 2025 then pulled Sitecore Windows 2025 containers from their container registry. Then did a local Docker build of the whole solution and tested all 17 containers to make sure that they are up and running correctly.

From the time that I have instructed my AI agent to start this process and to the time it reported successfully implementing my instructions it took thirty two minutes. Most of this time was spent downloading container images and building our custom container images based on the Sitecore base images. Not bad at all, in pre Ai days this would have taken at least a few days.

Then I messaged our team on Microsoft Teams and asked our Azure Engineers to spin up new AKS node pool that runs Windows 2025, so that I have a place to deploy our new 2025 containers. While they did it I went to the gym in our office building to pump some iron and reduce my anxiety about being the first guest speaker at our Software Engineering all hands meeting.

I had a really nice weight lifting workout. When I got back I was ready to give my Artificial Intelligence talk on Sitecore 10.5 upgrade and shortening a twelve months process down to two months using AI. It was a great session but it did ruffle some feathers as some of our architects were caught off guard. While they were working on the process for doing things like this and general AI SDLC I have developed my own process and delivered a major production system upgrade.

Obviously this was done with full knowledge and support from the management and our deputy CTO complimented me on the flawless upgrade last night in front of our CTO today. And naturally I am going to be supporting the new process they are working on and try to help them finalize it.

I also had a dry run of my presentation on log analysis using AI in front of our CTO and senior management team today using Teams call. Tomorrow is a real meeting and I will be putting a plug for our new AI SDLC process that is based on Spec Kit.

This is going to be in front of our whole IT department which is over two hundred people. So tomorrow I will be going to the office again and doing the real lightening talk on Azure log analytics using AI. In between the meetings today I managed to instruct AI to do a build and deploy using Azure DevOps pipeline but it didn't succeed the first time so when I got home I fixed the deployment and instructed the pipeline using AI to deploy all of the Windows 2025 containers to our Windows 2025 non production Kubernetes cluster.

Tomorrow is going to be the same type of day going to downtown Seattle office and doing stand up meeting on Microsoft Teams and then Production cluster node creation and deployment, then official production deployment, then gym workout and right after that my lightening talk.
