Bitcoin Futures ETFS

There are three Bitcoin Futures ETFs

  • BTCFX
  • BITO
  • BITX

There are two important things to know about them:

First, they don’t allow you to buy Bitcoin, and
Second, they don’t own or hold any Bitcoin.

  • This is not my opinion, if you go to BTCFX website and look at their Schedule K filing you see the fund holds only Bitcoin Futures and US Treasuries.

When you look at the ETF funds performance you see each is doing much worse then Bitcoin.

  • Bitcoinup over 60% in 2023

  • These three funds are doing much worse, Bitcoin is in gold and the funds are in blue.

  • To be fair, two of them are up for the year.

So using the data available on each funds website you see their performance is not very good.

  • This is not my opinion, it is the data they publish.
  • So the take home message is :
    These ETFs don’t allow you to buy Bitcoin.

These ETFS don’t own Bitcoin

These ETFs performance is much worse then Bitcoin.

So I think you’re better just owning Bitcoin.
