News and Community Hubs
I never thought about the news and the community hubs. These are awesome suggestions.
TAGS or Topic Filter
I never also used this except the one time I wanna know how it works because of the upcoming redesign.
I still included it in my home page design proposal for some reasons like it does not occupy much space.
Another aspect I am considering is it would be an easier filter for those who would be visiting our frontend that are potential users that we can onboard. We may not use it much ourselves but it maybe important starting point for a newbie.
YouTube has this kind of tag or topic selection on their home page. I also rarely use it but considering that YouTube has spent a lot of funds and time analyzing their viewers, I am guessing that it does have an impact.
I think we will keep it in their for now and see how it will perform. A possibility of looking into further improving it is also an option.
Blog Section
The suggestion of putting long-form content together with short-form content on the users blog section is appealing. I made the same suggestion on my home page design but never thought of this on the users blog post section.
However, placing them side-by-side is not my thing as it divides the focus of the viewer. The users will be unconsciously choosing between the two. There is also the challenge of how are we gonna achieve the same thing on a mobile device.
The solution that I can think of would be very similar to this:

Allow me to adapt your proposal idea on the users blog post that I am also currently working on and see how it will look like. No worries, the credit will still be yours. 🙂
