Well, to be honest, my career path deviated from engineering. Nowadays, I work in project management in the tech industry. But that was only because an opportunity presented itself and I decided to give it a shot. I enjoyed studying engineering and I don't regret it.

I think there will always be a place for a competent engineer because in essence, an engineer really is a problem solver and there will be no shortage of problems to solve, ever.
