Oșelu(Schmidl) waterfall, the wonder of nature in the Apuseni mountains, Romania
Hello travelers
Summer has arrived in Romania, with already unbearable heat, so I was looking for an alternative way to relax that wasn't too far from home.
I was looking for something that had to do with nature and wasn't something very well-known, so after several searches in Bihor county I found the Oșelu waterfall in the Boga holiday village.
The waterfall is not very well-known so I hoped it wouldn't be a crowded place.
Even the road to Bihor county is very captivating, the nature is amazing, so green and most of all I like the silence.
Have you ever tried, when you are in the middle of nature, to stop and listen to the sound of nature?
The waterfall is very easy to reach, the only drawback is that the last 2 km of the road are very bad, so you will walk very slowly on this part of the road.
At some point, the road narrows, so if you come here by car, you have to leave it before the road narrows; if you don't, either going there or coming back, if you meet another car, you won't have room next to each other.
There is no designated parking in the area, so you can leave your car on the side of the road without disturbing anyone else.
So that's what we did, we left it on the side of the forest road, grabbed the backpack, grabbed a bottle of water for hydration and set off on the trail, we have 15-20 minutes to go.
The trail is amazing it runs parallel to the river Oselu, a fabulous view, I love to watch the spectacle of nature at this time of year.
If at home the temperatures were over 33 degrees, here in the mountains in the forest were around 25 degrees, perfect temperature for a trail.
To visit this waterfall all you need is a good mood, and yes, you can visit it all year round for free.
After 15-20 minutes of easy walk through the forest we arrive right in front of the waterfalls, I have no words, it is amazing, even if it doesn't have a very high fall is absolutely spectacular.
From what we found out on the spot, the waterfall is also known as Schmidl Falls, the latter is said to have been a Viennese who discovered the waterfall.
Because of the prolonged drought, the waterfall didn't have a very high flow, but it's still very beautiful.
Also, on the spot I saw at the top of the waterfall there were at least 5-6 climbers trying to reach the top of the waterfall, and yes, Oselu waterfall is formed by 7 other smaller waterfalls that form the Oselu canyon, which can only be visited with special permission, it is very difficult and only the very experienced can go there.
We spent some special moments in nature here at the Oselu waterfall, unfortunately we couldn't stay here for a long time because there were clouds gathering in the sky and there was a possibility of rain and we were not prepared for rain.
On the way back to the house somewhere on the side of the road in the middle of the field I found a very interesting house, unfortunately I could not find any information about it.
My dear visitors thank you for being with me in this blog, I hope you will enjoy the nature trail but also the Oșelu waterfall in the village of Boga, Bihor county.
THE END!
