Just found this silly chart on reddit, I don't know exactly how much silver I own and I am too lazy to count but after doing some quick math out of my head it's definitely above 100 oz, which according to the chart makes me a beluga.
No complains, belugas are cute! In an ugly kind of way
No idea how whoever came up with the chart figured those numbers out.. Probably pullem em out of their ass but it got me thinking a bit.
So, according to the royal mint, this is the amount of silver that has ever been minted:
How Much Silver has Been Mined and how Much is Left? Using the same estimates, there is roughly 7.5 trillion kg of silver throughout the earth's crust. To date, some 1.4 billion kg of silver has been mined throughout human history.
Other sources also give a similar number so let's take it as is.
Assuming all of that silver is still available, with a population of 8 billions, if divided equally we get a number of
0.175 kg per human or about 6 ounces per person
Hmm, maybe that infographic isn't that far off! And 100 oz definitely make me feel now like a small whale 🤣
Ok, let's do some more math. Today's spot per ounce is 22.64$ which means that to be a blue whale you would need about....
113 k of USD
Sure, that's a lot! But doesn't feel like whale status..Let alone Blue Whale status. Especially in times of high inflation 🤣
To be a Narwhal, the smallest whale on the chart you would need just..
1132 USD
Ok, that's not a lot!
Btw, in case you think 5000 oz of silver would take a shit ton of space...think again!
Here's a video showing a couple of 1000oz bars
Sure they are big, but nothing crazy 🤣
So, where are you fellow plebs in the chart?
