Hello, dear Hive Diy community! I hope you are having a great day today.
Today, I’m sharing a drawing from the anime Sousou no Frieren—this time, I’ve drawn Frieren herself, haha! She’s the protagonist, a character with a rather peculiar personality: she’s often carefree and calm, and she finds it quite difficult to understand humans. As an elf who lives for a very long time, she perceives the passage of time differently than others do; consequently, she often fails to realize the true importance of certain things until it’s already too late.
As the anime progresses, she begins to grow in these areas, and I really love her character development. Little by little, she starts connecting with the people around her and learning to cherish the moments she shares with them. This transformation feels very genuine, and it’s one of the aspects of the story I enjoy the most.

PROCESO | PROCESS
- I started by creating a rough sketch of the pose I had in mind. This part took quite a while—it was my first time attempting to draw hair with such a dynamic flow, and it was a real challenge to get it looking the way I wanted.
- Drawing the hand was also tricky, though I suspect that’s a common struggle for most artists, haha!
- Once the rough sketch was done, I moved on to the final line art, aiming for the cleanest result possible.

- Next came the coloring. Once again, I opted to color each section individually, rather than filling the entire figure with a base gray tone and layering colors on top.
- This time, I colored the boots, the fitted trousers, the dress, and so on, bit by bit, until the entire character was colored.

- Once the coloring was done, it was time to add the final details.
- To do this, I grouped the color layers into one and created three "clipping masks" on top. I set the first one to "multiply" mode and added shadows to the entire character, excluding the skin. I also set the second one to "multiply" mode and added shadows to the skin. Finally, on the third layer, I used white to add some finishing highlights. It’s a detail I always include at the end of my drawings—I think it really makes them look much better.

- And there you have it—this is the final result.
- I really enjoyed drawing Frieren, and I feel like my drawing style is gradually improving.
- I hope you enjoyed it too! See you in the next post!
